Another interesting welterweight fight has been added to the Manny Pacquiao-Keith Thurman card.

Multiple sources have informed BS.com that Omar Figueroa Jr. will face Yordenis Ugas on July 20 in Las Vegas. In the main event, Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs), the WBA “world” champion, will square off against Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs, 1 NC), the WBA’s “super” welterweight champion.

As BS.com’s Jake Donovan first reported a week ago, IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant (18-0, 10 KOs) also will defend his title on the undercard against unbeaten Mike Lee (21-0, 11 KOs).

Figueroa (28-0-1, 19 KOs) was last in action February 16, when he defeated John Molina via unanimous decision in 10-rounder at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. That was Figueroa’s first fight since July 15, 2017, when he stopped Robert Guerrero in the third round in Uniondale, New York.

The Cuban-born Ugas (23-4, 11 KOs) last fought March 9 in Carson, California.

I like Ugas in this. Ugas deserved no worse than a draw against Porter IMO. He was right there with him every step of the way.

I’m glad this will be free in the UK. Top card so far.

Hopefully it stays this way. Unless Sky or BT try snatching it.

Similar to Wilder-Breazeale, took place on Sky instead of ITV.

Ugas-Figueroa named WBC welterweight eliminator

Cuba's Yordenis Ugas (pictured) returns to the ring on July 20th against former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa in a WBC welterweight elimination bout that will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Ugas (23-4, 11 KOs), 32, has been one of the most outstanding welterweight contenders in boxing, fighting three times each in 2017 and 2018.

Ugas had an eight-win streak before losing a close split decision against WBC welterweight champion Shawn Porter. The winner of Ugas-Figueroa will be in line for the winner of an expected mega-fight between Porter and IBF champion Erroll Spence.

That fight has no firm date yet. "I'm very excited to be back in the ring. Omar Figueroa Jr. is a tremendous fighter, and that's the style I like to face, I'm an action fighter and the fans are going to have a great fight." Ugas commented.

I took the Draw pick. This seems like a total 50/50 fight on paper.

I like the Cuban. Better all around skills.

Ugas should be able to hit Figueroa at will.

But he better be busier than he was against Porter. Or the judges will reward Figueroa for aggressiveness and punch output.

But I'll still go with Ugas by decision.

Last time, Figueroa was in poor shape and relied on holding. Ugas will be too much for him unless he gets back

Could be the fight of the day.

Ugas now a fairly heavy 5-1 favorite to hand Figueroa his first defeat.

It might be a little tougher than those odds indicate. Figueroa isn't going to give any quarter.

Not a round for Omar.

Ugas too skilled and too big.

Fig needs to melt down to 140.

Hope this one sided beating doesn't lead to another round with the bottle.
