Just watched this rematch on Eurosport and it was a pretty entertaining contest, i have never seen Beyer get hit so much though and i think he is definately on the slide. He was wide open and Sanavia often found a home for his ramrod jab, Sanavia messed him around and his handspeed was giving Beyer trouble which was expected with Sanavia moving up in weight.

The stoppage came out of the blue with Sanavia slightly off balance, a Beyer left just missed but Sanavia stayed inside and Beyer threw an identical follow up which stroked Sanavia's chin and took away his balance, after a heavy fall to the canvas he got up and jigged about a bit before ref Ian John Lewis rightfully called a halt.

The most frustrating thing is i doubt Calzaghe would have many problems with either of these two fighters which makes every Salem style opponent all the more frustrating for the fans to watch. Beyer will lose his title pretty soon judging by his diminishing reflexes and Danny Green may be the man to do that if the proposed rematch comes off next year.

I wouldn't perhaps go that far, Beyer was a decent enough champion but is on the slide and will get beaten soon. Sanavia was an average Middleweight who moved up and took his chance well, maybe a move back down to his natural weight a few Euro's better off will best suit him. He doesn't really deserve to be challenging for the WBC title at any weight but such is life.

and why doesn´t the best british boxer on earth go for the WBC-belt?

Excellent contest between two class boxers and what a finishing punch. 8)

the WBC-belt is the most prestiguos one. every boxer who holds that belt is at least at the top ten.

Honestly, Calzaghe would smoke Beyer if they fought, strange why he doesn't go for the belt.

Bubi i have nothing against Beyer, the guy is a reasonable fighter but not the best in the world..he only keeps getting chances at world level all the time because of his promotional team. The reason people like Sanavia get shots is because they are low rate earners and the promoters take out options on them when they challenge for the title hence the immediate rematch. Sanavia is an average blown up Middleweight, if Beyer had anything about him he would have done the job first time around.

I am looking forward to a Beyer-Green rematch but Green has been in a few wars and i think his best chance is an early to mid rounds stoppage, he just loves getting involved and i think if Beyer can weather the early storm and take it into the late stages he will win on points or maybe late stoppage. That's providing Green doesn't KO him first of course or starts playing head tennis again

Beyer is of course not the best in this division, but he belongs at least to the top ten. if he would stabile his mental strength he would be able to hold the belt for a year or two.
