I reckon Tszyu retiring is the latest plan from Hatton's camp to stop him having to fight as #1 contender.

Tszyu won't retire, why would he AFTER this fight. The money bouts are there for him AFTER Mitchell. He has a damn valid reason to retire before this fight but has chose to risk his reputation against a dangerous, but not financially rewarding opponent.

He also could have retired saying that his final fight was big title defence in his adopted home, which would have been nice.

He's coming back, because he wants some of Mayweather, Gatti and maybe even Cotto.

People are still having strange visions and ideas of Ricky Hatton being in a big fight? I gave up on that a long time ago, I think there is more chance of Hatton retiring himself than fighting a credible top 5 opponent.

Yes Stu is right, fighting Mitchell and then retiring doesn't seem like a financial option, he wouldn't have ground himself down the weight after 18 months or so away just for a defence against a tricky southpaw and then jack it in. If this fight was in Russia or something then maybe as it could have been a fairwell fight but i think this is the stepping stone to the big money fights...he must surely be targetting Mayweather and Gatti.

I think that Hatton being No.1 contender for Tszyu or whatever is a great position to avoid a fight IMO...i mean if the belt organisations says Tszyu must fight Hatton as he is No.1 contender then it is obvious Tszyu will probably vacate as he is looking for the big money fights, thus putting team Hatton in a great position...."Tszyu avoided us, he vacated to keep away" etc when the truth is Tszyu wants paydays.

What odds can you get right now that Warren will withdraw Hatton as both WBO and IBF mandatory?

Whether Tszyu wins, loses, retires or vacates, there is no escape for Warren (sorry, Hatton) now.

Whichever way, Hatton will be offered a pop at the IBF early next year, and we'll see whether he's a shitter or not.

What the chances on him going for the WBO - is that vacant? Going by their rankings (ie. kebede etc) Surely that would give him a chance to say he has a proper belt whilst continuing to fight dud opponents and keep the gravy train rolling.

Zoo is a warrior in the true sence of the word. He may or may not retire and money will not come into it.

If money was his reason he would off based himself in America, when he first turned pro, Nope familly and lifestyle are his concerns , and if he takes it in his head to retire ,then retire he will and he won't care about money , his familly are not gonna go short.

Zoo is taking a dangerous fight for little reward, for one reason and thats to prove he is the best, Thats what TRUE champs do , while the pretenders don't.

Another thing Warren and piggy Hatton can croak and bleat has much has they want about Zoo they will not get a shot at the champ unless they put a lot of money on the table to coax him or convince Zoo that Ricky's the genuine number one.

Seen has how Ricky cannot even prove he's the best in Britain while he dodges Witter , can't really see him getting a go at Zoo just cos they want it.

Bizzare situation as per usual.........if it's a unification, then no doubt the IBF title will be declared vacant ( again ) or maybe Mitchell's title is not on the line? The mind boggles............

I think Tszyu wins, and Hatton will go for a shot at the IBF title against someone else - maybe against Mitchell ( who might take a pounding this weekend ) or maybe against some other bod.

be interesting to see if Kostya is the same fighter, mitchell never impressed me to be totally honest he looks great for four rounds, slipping punches and getitng his own in form unorthodox angles but when I saw him at teh MEN he ended up having a few unbcomfotable moments against No Joke, which if does that against stewart if Kostya is anything like he will be in big trouble.

Don't think the IBF have a "Super Champion" itself. Tszyu is currently holds the WBC/WBA "Super" championships (with Gatti and Harris already the "normal" champions). So basically all Tszyu will gain is the IBF crown.

Now should Mitchell win, I don't know what happens.

That'd be something. A unification fight featuring only one organisation. Shows just how mad the sport has become.

Just been to the IBF website (it's awful by the way), and they only have Mitchell listed as the interim champion. So officially it's for Tszyu's bog standard IBF belt. Although i didn't think that was the case.

Of course, when Tszyu wins he'll probably be promoted up to super-champ (or whatever the IBF version is), the normal belt will become vacant, and the IBF can earn a little more money by having two more guys fight for it.

Yes, Tszyu won the real IBF title from Zab....clear as mud?

Tsyzu is not the WBA champ they took the title away for not fighting Harris
I think you can say he's not really the WBC champ also I don't take much notice of "EMERTIUS" or whatever its called. I think that if Mitchell wins he will only be IBF champ. I think thats the case!!

Hmmmm...I think you're right - it's listed as being for the IBF title only.

So....that means...........I give up!
