I wouldn't put much weight on the betting odds of Matchroom cards. Due to the casual following Matchroom has, all of their in-house boxers are always heavy favourites because the opponents are rarely known to the casual punters.

The success of this show is going to be fascinating. There could be some fall-out.

I think Hearn is under particular pressure with Sky which may well come to head. He’s losing his grip on much of the UK talent and the market I don’t think that situation is pleasing Sky & Adam Smith.

I would imagine that it didn’t please Sky that AJ will be fighting at a UK time when most reasonable people will be fast asleep. The original plan being for Wembley in April 19. I just don’t think this fight is a big enough draw to persuade large numbers of UK fight fans to stay up late and part with their cash when Ruiz is the opponent. The fight taking place in America will surely hit Sky’s PPV numbers and thus their income from the fight.

I think the card will do reasonably well, the show will begin soon after the champions league final in which two premiership teams are playing.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the fight advertised on boarding in the stadium. The ones by the pitch, visible on TV.

I imagine many people will watch both and make a night of it.

I strongly doubt there will be any adverts on the pitch, don’t UEFA pretty much only allow pre-sanctioned companies (i.e. their sponsors) to advertise? And I can’t see BT Sport carrying many adverts for a Sky PPV...

They don’t need to advertise. The casual fans know AJ is boxing. Most football fans watch big boxing cards.

The opposite. European Cup final is the main event that day and I would think most football fans would have a drink watching that and be fast asleep by the time Mr humble fights fat man.

Yeah only partner advertising around pitch....Sony/Gazprom etc.

I disagree bud. I think this one is flying under the casual radar. Not one of my mates has asked my opinion on it and they always do before a big fight

To be fair the only real mismatch is buatsi because ndam has just beat Murray and Ruiz nearly beat Parker. Neither are going to win but they are credible top 15 guys. Coyle Taylor and kelly all in competitive fights

I know a lot of people who are planning to watch both, most aren't big boxing fans.

I really do see this fight doing well, not as well some of Joshua's previous fights in the UK, but better than most on here expect.

OK maybe not adverts around the pitch, but there will be plenty of hype fight week.

Matchroom will make a sizable chunk of the football watching audience aware that if they want something to watch with their pals after the match they can all chip in for some boxing.

They may have even heard of one or two of the guys who are fighting.

Just because someone is in the top 15 doesn’t mean it’ll be competitive. N’Dam beat an ancient Murray whose never been elite level anyway at the weight below.

Joshua is fighting a fat lad with whose best win is against a never very good and now very shop worn Dimitrenko who doesn’t carry one punch power and could have a shot at making cruiser.

Who on earth has Coyle ever beaten at world or European level to make that a top level fight?

All in all it’s hardly all that. It’ll do fine as Joshua sells well but it’s a gash PPV

No worse than the average allegedly card. When was the last time an away fighter ever won on his shows? Look at the records of most English shows and the home fighters always win.

Not many better contenders available than N’Dam and Ruiz imo. No coyle isn’t world level but it’s a brilliant fight just not high in quality. Kelly-Robinson a high level 50-50. Can’t complain about the card

That’s nonsense - there was only seats in gods left weeks ago.

There was umpteen charters flying from London with Brits. There was 2 planes alone on Fri morning.

I wouldn't say its a monster card but I think its solid, Joshua/Ruiz is what it is, a solid replacement and on a level par with Miller, Smith/N'Dam is poor, I'm not a fan of that fight, Buatsi/Periban isn't great either but didn't Periban just give Yildirim a tough fight?, I'm looking forward to Algieri/Coyle and Kelly/Robinson though, great match ups IMO

Just watched Katie Taylor's documentary on Netflix last week, very good so I'm looking forward to her undisputed fight as well

TBH ive got a kodi box so haven't paid for a PPV in about a year so that's maybe why I don't mind this card
