I saw the post fight conference and I felt that AJ had that regret and disappointment in his eyes.

I can't say I feel bad for Joshua if he does feel that way. A champion finds a way to win even if they basically were suckered into thinking their opponent was a push-over when they weren't.

Holyfield beat Cooper. Marciano beat Cockell. Lewis beat Klitschko. Etc. Champions do the job because they can rise above the adversity.

..AJ is still a cash cow back at home and still a very solid boxer..this loss won't affect the relationship..at one point Hearn will realise how dangerous it is to travel..Joshua will probably box the rest of his career in Britain...

The hype was so damn big. His team probably hype his 'boxing mindset' more than enough. A very good thing about AJ is he was a humble nice lad.

Let's be fair. They probably thought that Ruiz is just a better version of "Butterbean" and nothing more. Easy night with a stay-busy type of opponent. Most of the people thought that AJ only by using his reaching jab would get the job done vs Ruiz. But is wasn't like that.

He was world champion. It was a championship fight.

He should be assuming that nobody he's going to come up against will be a bum.

I don't exclude this scenario..still think though Hearn did his best to find an adequate substitute for Miller..

Comparing Ruiz and Butterbean is just flat out wrong on so many levels. Bean never remotely beat a guy worth anything. He never got beyond the four rounders, except when losing to Larry Holmes when the Easton Assassin was in his 50s.

Ruiz was a damn good amateur. He's fought for the world title before in a close fight with Parker. He's not a bum. He's not some lazy slob. He's a good fighter. Appearance is NOTHING in boxing otherwise every bodybuilder and strongman would be heavyweight champion of the world.

Joshua was a social media built fighter in the Instagram era. He was marketed as being some black Superman that every man wanted to be and every woman wanted--- it was Gerry Cooney tactics all over again. The only difference is he was positioned into the easiest possible fights to maintain that image.

Unfortunately for him he finally met a "set up" who didn't follow the script and got his ass handed to him.

Yup. The great boxing champions see the next oopponent as the dangerous opponent they could ever fight and they prepare and fight in that way. That's the best mindset.

I did notice he say something to Ruiz along the lines of 'I'm gonna make a move, then we will go again'.

Not sure what he means by that, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him either sign with Haymon or start training with Roach in the near future.

It was like a figure of speech. Don't tell me they didn't think that Ruiz is gonna be almost like an exhibitional stay-busy type of opponent!?

Of course they thought he'd be nothing. Ruiz hasn't looked great in a long while. I imagine they figured, too, "With six weeks preparation what kind of threat could anyone be?"

Maybe he's gonna change his training staff. The truth is AJ has some serious holes in his boxing game.

Yup. They severely misevaluated and underestimated Ruiz.
