Kevin Lerena vs Vasil Ducar

Cruiserweight action live on NoxBation this Saturday, Lerena seems to have fought more on the channel than any other Brit in the last year, dominant win over Kucher then a KO over the unbeaten Artur Mann last time out, he's a decent fighter Lerena, a bit slow but a strong southpaw, puts some shots together nicely, with Usyk moving up and the WBSS finishing soon, Lerena can become a player in the division

Ducar is unbeaten in 8(6KOs and a draw) no wins of note this is a big step up and a bit of a strange match up on paper, I'm guessing the promoters thinking 6KOs in 7 wins for Ducar is a decent selling point to South Africans?? He's fought most of his career in his native Czech Republic but did score a KO at the York Hall in his second pro fight I noticed

Ducar is a fit and tough guy, he has a kickboxer/MMA background so I expect technically he wont be great, but he is tall and long which could cause the shorter, hook happy Lerena some problems.

One-sided affair this as expected, Lerena showed a solid straight one-two and some decent body work but wasn't forced out of second gear by a dogged but fairly static, unambitious opponent. Ducar started to let his hands go a touch in the last couple of rounds but it was way too little, too late. A stoppage looked quite likely after 4/5 rounds but Ducar toughed it out to the final bell.

Lerena wins a pretty uninspired and unsurprising wide UD, I agreed with the judge who only gave Ducar one round, I probably generously gave him the last, he fought like what he was, a novice, there's probably a better boxer in there but he needs training and belief because there was none in his work, Lerena reminds me of a southpaw Martin Murray, albeit southpaw, strong, workmanlike and can win at a decent level(probably)

Lerena puts together some nice combinations, especially to the body i like his right hand, digs to the body well, uppercut and the hook around the side, he just needs to stop being a bit predictable, walking into straight lines and switching off, he's slow but if he puts a bit a more urgency in his work then he'd have more chance of breaking guys like Ducar down

Lerena's nothing special but he probably mixes it with Usyk and Gassiev's scraps

I thought it was a decent card. All the bout were watchable. The only decision I didn't agree with was the Allen-Zhuravskiy fight. I thought the Khazak had done enough to take the decision. I could be wrong but one of the rounds seemed to end a minute early when Allen was in difficulty.
