Was Joshua Concussed?

I DON'T necessarily believe any of this but it was interesting enough to report:
There's a story going around that AJ had a concussion leading up to the Ruiz fight. The rumor also states that this is what his father was fighting with Eddie Hearn about in the ring soon after the fight ended. What's interesting is that the symptoms of a concussion include fatigue; lack of focus; and other symptoms that one could say AJ displayed. The rumor went so far as to discuss acupuncture of the cheek to alleviate symptoms of a concussion and pointed out a mark on AJ's cheek.
I haven't found anything to substantiate it, and frankly I find that notion ridiculous. Who in their right mind would parade such an asset into such a dangerous situation? Anyone hear anything similar? Thoughts? It's certainly better than the "AJ is gay" bvllshvt!

https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/5526 ... -sparring/
“There are stories that, potentially and possibly, Anthony Joshua had been sparring and had been hurt in sparring leading up to the fight.
“He had a problem with his eye coming into the fight, he had marks on his nose, the cut on his nose, swelling on one part of his face as well.
“And there is some – and these are just rumours at the moment – he might have been knocked out in sparring heading into the fight.
“Maybe he was still suffering the effects from that.”

I reached out to Joey Dawejko on a thread he's posted to asking him about AJ being 'beat up' in sparring, as he was in camp in Miami. I thought this interesting enough to bring up.

Another interesting story:
https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/5525 ... andy-ruiz/
Members of the viewing public spotted an attempted confrontation in the background of Ruiz’s post-victory interview as Robert Joshua pursued the promoter and had to be held back by his son.
If Hearn let Joshua have this fight while still having effects of being hurt in sparring, that explains the father's anger.

I mention that in my OP. That was the argument in the ring, according to the 'rumor.'

Is there a film of that? I must have shut it off before that happened. Can you hear what he's saying?

The only thing audible is AJ saying, "Dad...I'm the fighter!" If you watch the post fight in ring interview with Ruiz, you can catch it on the left side of the screen right behind them.

Joshua did look rather lethargic and disinterested before the fight started as I recall. I don't recall how that compared with his appearance before other fights, do you?

It's funny you ask that. Only because of the circumstances are any of us noticing. Had he finished off Ruiz in the third round, it wouldn't be a discussion I'd guess.

Correct - and we all thought the fight was over when Ruiz went down in Rd 3, whereas the fight was just beginning! A most amazing fight indeed!

It really was incredible. Ruiz's performance was a coach's dream. Executed the game plan to perfection. I guess easier to do when it's working! I heard that Parker gave Ruiz much of the approach. Timed counters. Unbelievable!

Was Parker coaching him?

Ruiz said Parker and he spoke. Parker gave him advice and Ruiz took it. I'll try to find something on it if I can. I'm sure it's buried with all the new stuff that's come out.

A lot of excuses in this thread.
Joshua chin is not the better, simple like that.

If it's true, it's still ultimately Joshua's decision to fight. You can't force anybody to fight if they don't want to. If it's true, he probably figured concussion or no concussion he'd win no problems. If true, he took the gamble. It's all on him.

Joshua's chin is average, but it may have become poor if he was recently badly hurt in sparring.

Another interesting thing prior to the fight was the way someone was massaging his neck and his response to it. AJ did appear rather nonchalant / aloof pre-fight.

Joshua has stated even again today.
That he was not injured or sick. He was not knocked out in sparring or any other excuse.
Why not accept this he seems to have

Exacly, fans are making excuses when the same fighter said he was at his best

I do too. Ruiz was better Saturday.
I'm looking forward to the rematch to see if he can duplicate it

Never been much of an AJ fan, but the father's behavior was fascinating in the ring after the fight. I'd love to find out what was happening. AJ has been clear that there was nothing wrong prior to the fight. Just an interesting discussion.

A lot of rumours doing the rounds, I think we need to send Columbo in to get to the bottom of it.
Or maybe some of these you tubers who suck off fighters and promoters during interviews could do a bit of investigate journalism.
By the sounds of it they will either find an acupuncture needle, a brown envolope from Haymon or a s**t stained dildo.

That's normal, a lof of fathers were mad when their sons lost… Judah's father, Carlos Zarate fathers, etc
