Harris v Urkal II

Just saw this fight on eurosport. Sorry to say it but Harris would in my opinion beat Hatton quite handily, he's leagues ahead of the fodder Ricky has been fighting. I have seen Harris before but he looked a lot better this time around and he can really whack. His right hand is a beautiful shot, and Hatton eats them all day.

Yeah, I agree - impressed with Harris this time. Urkal, has probably done a wise decision, he looked like he had aged slightly since their first fight.

Before anyone starts kicking off I think Harris is a match for anyone at the weight.

Yes but sadly he evidently doesn't have that same confidence in his own ability...

I dont think he has a confidence problem at all, he's never given me that impression. If you're referring to the Hatton fiasco I think he was just pissed off to be only getting a tiny portion of the purse as he was the champion and rightly so i think. He may have earned less against Urkal but he was prob getting the lions share.
Harris v Cotto would be a brilliant match.

Yeah I was referring to that. That whole affair just stank of Harris wanting an easy way out. I taped the Harris/Urkal fight on Eurosport and will watch it tomorrow after work and post my comments.

Steve Holdsworth mustve been signed as FW official propaganda man, he earned his money tonight alright. Frank mustve been on the phone to him before the fight giving his version of the story. According to Steve "Hatton would walk right throught Harris".

Yeah i was disappointed with Holdsworth tonight, after the fight he claimed that was proof enough that Hatton would walk right through Harris, i thought on the contrary as Harris looked controlled and powerful and i fear for Hatton's chances if that fight came off. Holdsworth also unfairly picked on the ref early on as well, he said he was too lenient but i thought he was a fair ref and allowed the contest to flow.
As for the fight itself i can't believe some people at the time had Urkal ahead, i thought Harris was ahead by a country mile, he was in complete control. Urkal is a skilled guy with fast hands but doesn't do enough scoring IMO. He dances around and hugs a lot in the first 2 minutes of the round and then throws a few fast slaps which mostly miss or hit gloves in the final minute and the crowd roars then he wins the round. I would be interested to see what the scores were at the time of the stoppage.

Like I said after the first Urkal fight, I have Harris about a 60/40 favourite over Hatton. He's so much better all round than anyone Ricky has shared the ring with. That said, if Hatton could get to the body somehow without getting clipped by rights and lefts he'd have a realistic chance. Bloody big if though.
I say again, 50/50 fights for Hatton are Pinto, Branco, Augustus and N'Dou.

If they fought I can see Harris doing some real damage with the right hand when Hatton loads up for the left hook to the body.
Holdsworth is full of shit and I had it on quietly and wasnt listening to what he was saying. How on earth that coule be proof that Hatton would walk through him is beyond me.

I would like to see M'baye vs Hatton !

Hatton for all his great work rate, superb body punching and conditioning has NEVER faced a real puncher...Frank knows his limitations and has made sure he has steered clear of any punchers who could KO or cut him.
Magee had him all at sea and Vann had to help him off the canvas practically. Magee is a decent puncher but not a great one.
Harris is a very good puncher and i dont think Hatton will react very well to his right hands.
The guy has stopped Urkal who was never stopped before, dropped him in the first fight too.
dropped M'Baye who hadnt been dropped before as far as i can remember.
Crushed Hurtardo who hits like a mule himself (lost only to legend Tzsyu and Whittaker)
Stopped Golden Johnson quicker than a prime Mosley
This is a far better track record than Hatton.....

Agreed. I got home from work last night, poured myself a glass of wine, saw there was boxing on Eurosport and, expecting a battle between two unknown French flyweights was thrilled when it was Harris - Urkal.
King Viv looked good and he looks a class above Hatton, have to back Harris on a late stoppage if they fought right now.
Harris - Cotto is the fight of the divison - MAyweather to quick for Harris and would be a dull fight.

Another thing is Urkal is a slick fighter, he had to go looking for Urkal, he's not going to have to go looking for Hatton. He's also far more hungry than Hatton who's in a comfort zone and has been for a long time, Vivian believes the world is against him.

M'baye got KD in the 2nd but wasnt hurt at all...he got KD on a jab as he was off balance a bit in the Wlad vs TOS way...he even managed to get Harris hurt later in the fight...but M'baye wasnt ready at all for that fight !

i rate M'Baye, very good boxer.... more than good enough to beat Hatton..
is he still with Acaris brothers?? If so he will get a WBA shot at some stage they seem to have a big influence with the WBA

M*Baye just won the WBA eliminator vs the Universum boxer Kotelnik, so he is Harris mandatory.

To beat Harris, McFatton would have to stick close to him all night, and not let Harris loose with his long arms. That's the only way I could see McFatton winning. Just basically smothering him, and ripping off shots to the body and head. Harris would definitely have problems if the fight went that way.
If the fight remained on the outside, and Harris was able to get his long punches off, McFatton would get cut to pieces.
I'll be supporting Harris if they do fight, fornicate McFatton.

having just watched mbaye v harris i think mabye is a sleeper in the division he gave harris a few problems and showed great hand speed and accuracy. I would give him a great chance against hatton.

i thought his stoppage of Hurtado was a little dodgy, to say the least.

Really? I've never seen the fight but I always had the impression it was a clinical stoppage.

Some good points amongst all that vented anger

Of course though the problems with Hatton constantly being up close is that there would be heads and elbows flying all over the place and that would increase Hatton's chances of cutting. Those long chopping Harris punches would cut Hatton to bits, i think it is best he didn't fight Harris after all.

yes M'baye is a sleeper...he has more than a great talent...his main defect is that he tends to rely on his natural talent too much and loses focus...i may repeat myself but his fight vs Harris was a lot too early in his career and he still managed to do far better than most others...M'baye still need high level competition before facing Harris again...Kotelnic was a perfect opponent, now he should fight the likes of Urkal, Hatton, N'dou, grigorian, Tackie...id say 2 or 3 more fights like this and im sure he could beat Harris...
