I know some may disagree with me, but I feel Donald Curry had to wait too long to be induced into the hall of fame. I know he was SUPPOSED to be the next Leonard and beat Hagler. But from 83-86 was there a better welterweight? I still feel he beats Honeyghan 10 out of 10 times is could make weight comfortably. The night he beat McCrory he was electrifying. I don’t know if Leonard beats him on that night. Was ahead and hurt McCallum before he got careless. If Ray Mancini and Barry McGuigan both of whom I admired are enshrined. The Lone Star Cobra certainly deserves it.

Maybe, but he managed to catch Milton at the right time. Even though I don't think he should be in the Hall, by today's standards he makes it, and that is okay.

Curry did enough to earn enshrinement.

One of my favorite fighters.
His prime may have been short but during that prime he gives any welter in history a tough fight

that slip inside the jab and left hook vs milt was picture perfect

I get what you are saying. But my point is Mancini and McGuigan accomplished even LESS than Curry and didn’t have he overall skills. Out of the three Mancini faced a legend (Arguello) and lost. His reign was shorter than Curry and was never undisputed. Pedroza was a great fighter but on the decline when McGuigan beat him and although he faced stern competition I feel Azumah would have beaten him. Curry unified the title (I know the IBF awarded him their inaugural belt) and didn’t win it on a lucky punch or something. Aside from Leonard and Hearns I think he is the best welterweight of the 1980’s.

I agree, I loved watching him, a real talent. He was flashy but not in a bad way for me. Fast hands, punch power. What's not to like. Fabulous fighter.

A few years back we did a thing where we picked a team of boxers one in each division with the same letter starting their surname.

I think the C's did very well and in h2h match ups curry was picked often. In his prime at welter he was some fighter.

Agreed, he was a favorite of mine at the time but I struggle to see him beating honeyghan 10 times out of 10.

With guys like vitali and gatti in he's overdue for sure. Not that I go by previous mistakes as a barometer but looking at his resume compared to theirs combined he's more deserving.
