Controversial decisions – Just a few questions please.

1. What options does a professional boxer have open to him when he and indeed even the media and public thinks that a judges/referees decision has clearly gone the wrong way for them?

2. Are professional boxers allowed to appeal against controversial decisions and if so are any of the appeals ever successful?

3. If a decision is found to be dodgy are the judges/referees banned from officiating again in the future?

sadly i think it in reality its pretty much NO to all the above.

If a boxer does appeal, which he can do, the governing body would have to admit that either their judges or referees were incompetent, and as they all piss in the same pot it is unlikely they would do so


although i think some action was taken when augustus was robbed against Burton

The best a boxer can hope for is a rematch. Not sure an decison has ever been overturned, no matter how dodgy it looks.

If a judge is seen as, at best incompetent, or worse, corrupt ( next to impossible to prove ) then you might see them drop off the radar.
The lady who ripped off Lewis in the 1st Holy fight ( was it Williams? ) hasn't seen much work since, I think.
Mainly because she ruled a round in favour of Holy, which virtualy everyone and their dog clearly saw for Lewis. Think she said she got the boxers mixed up, or something daft like that.

The WBA has ordered ''regular'' WBA super welterweight champion, undefeated Travis Simms (24-0-18 KOs), to defend his title within the next 90 days against the man from whom he won the title last December 13 - Tijuana KO artist Alejandro ''Terra'' Garcia.

Garcia lost his title as Simms hit him on the chin while the two broke a clinch with Garcia's guard down, in a bout which took place nearly a year ago at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

She changed her last name and is still a jugde in big fights. (Cant remember her new last name at the moment.

The lady judge in question was Eugenia Williams, but I don't know what she calls herself now.

I was wondering how long before we got a Simms-Garcia rematch, i didn't think there was a lot wrong with the incident myself, after all it is protect yourself at all times and Garcia didn't do that. The fight was just hotting up at the time as well so a rematch should be interesting enough.
