thought rios would do it. many had been talking down his chances but he has great comp and he just outclassed cook who was swinging wildly in there.

cook aint a bad fighter however, hes just not got the chin or ring smarts to mess with the big guns.

dont see any surprises for dazzo however

fvck decided to go Rios pts at the last minute was going to go just for the win.

I thought Rios would win, just not by stoppage, but because the odds were not mucg different Pts to win, should have gone for win. I am not happy....

Williams wins

Not quite a roberry but it was a shocking decision by the referee..

oh what a surprise

Dazzo thinks he can go to the european level!

er no.

he showed himself incapable of handling a technical outside boxer and threw masses of wild punches that missed by yards.

What a wonderful surprise Simpson was. A terrificly well schooled boxer and I was amazed by his self-control.

Where do they get these people from????

Why cant they just concentrate for 12 rounds and keep a mental barrier in the head, something like a swing-o-meter which they can move in favour of either fighter when a good punch or two lands?

What was he doing? Enjoying the crowd noise? Tring to look cool for the telly?

What an incompetent numptie.

Nice Win for Scott Gammer :TU:

Cook lost the title through weight making problems. The type of punches that landed from Rios would not have affected him more nearer his natural weight.

i agree. he did look knackered and weak throughout.

Why did his camp not just get him a very low risk fight in that case?

Rios is a tough guy whos been in with the best.

Strange move. God knows what N'dou would have done to him, cos that boy can really punch.

No... That was a robbery. Everyone knew it, it was clear that Williams knew he lost - its a shame he couldn't say it when being interviewed. Only Richie Woodhall showed that class.

A domestic star is born in John Simpson, I hope something is done about the decision, a rematch really isn't good enough that extra defeat in the loss column shouldn't be there.

Williams made Rutherford look slow handed, well Simpson made Williams look slow handed.

Its not quite Barnes vs Vincent, but its worse than any of the Vanzie vs Earl fights.

Dean, your going to have to KO Bennett.

Cook - Rios

Yeah, you could tell by his skin tone he had been troubled making the weight - very dangerous and good it ended early. Let's see how he transfers to light-welter in terms of power etc. I imagine he'll feel he has a lot to prove after such a defeat. His career's still live despite the stoppage loss, in my opinion, whether he will be effective as a light-welter is a whole other matter, but it'll be interesting to find out. Well done to Rios, looked like the belt meant a lot to him, and he deserved the crowd applause.

Williams - Simpson

I remember a thread a while ago about Kevin Mitchell where I said the thing he lacked as a young prospect was 'boxing maturity', if anyone wasn't sure what that meant, take a look at Simpson in this fight. Only 21 and walked to the ring taking pelters from the hometown crowd without being fazed! I was immediately impressed. I thought Dazzo did the right tactics of trying to bait the young yin into a brawl: he'd have been hoping Simpson would have been too proud to not engage and Dazzo would have been looking to catch him with one. Simpson was having none of it! Boxed a calm, technical fight and controlled the pace and rhythm from the third round onwards. I wasn't scoring it, but off the top of my head I thought Williams won the first two clearly before Simpson took the majority of the middle rounds, with Williams possibly edging the twelfth. In my opinion it was a pathetic hometown decision unworthy of the prestigious belt the contest was for. Dazzo is probably my favourite UK featherweight behind Scott Harrison, but based on that performance it's Cook on points.

Gammah tha hammah - Bugaj

Good stoppage win for Gammer, where does he go from here? I haven't a clue.

Damn, with this result, too bad you didn't get the shot at him.

Very true, but I wasn't ranked by the IBO so wasn't eligible to fight. I certainly put my name forward for it when N'Dou was forced to pull out. However, I believe things happen for a reason, and the Commonwealth route first may be better for me.

Dazzo's gotta get a poker face. He had an odd shocked look on his face form about the 3rd on. He looked scared and was throwing backhands just to keep him away. The look was like "what the, your not supposed to be this good".

Bummer, I had a bet on Rios points too. Should've just gone for the win of course, you never know when weight struggles will play their part.
No way was I expecting an early stop like that............still, Cookie has shown a lack of punch resistance in the past - but Rios a puncher??!!

Cook - Rios

I was suprised at the result, I admit that much, really thought it was going to go to points. There has been talk about Cooks problem making Lightweight for a couple of years now, so I am suprised that he hasn't already moved up tp 10st. Weight issues aside he needs to work on his defence, he may well be stronger and more durable at 10st but he will be taking harder shots from bigger fighters. Having said that he can still feature in some intersting fighst at Light-Welter.

Williams V Simpson

I had Simpson a clear winner 117-112 on my card. First time I can recall seeing Simpson fight and I was impressed. Seems to have good skills, clever defence. I was also impressed by his mental approach to the fight and his concentration. Maybe one to keep an eye on. Enjoyable fight.

Gammer V Bogaj.

Gammer looked good and did what was expected of him. But was in with a big Cruiserweight with I assume little desire. Time to step up the competition a little and see what the Welsh Heavyweight is made of.
