I thought Mell is gonna rematch Harrison but he's gonna fight Jorge Luis Cota Lugo, who got TKO'd by Erickson Lubin-who got KO'd by Mell. lol So basically Mell is fighting a leftover of his own leftover. He's trying to play it super safe but you never know when that shocking upset is gonna come. Harrison took something from Mell.

Was Harrison injured or something? Why was the fight scrapped?

For the record, I was surprise Jermell lost the fight with Harrison. I'm not gonna say it was a robbery because I honestly didn't pay close enough attention to score it, it just felt tedious and dull and nobody really seemed to have a clear advantage to me so it was surprising that Harrison got it considering.

When a guy that is hyped as a very good boxer and he strongly believes in his hype is getting boxed by a guy who got TKO'd by Hurd and Willie Nelson then you are starting to think more carefully about an immediate rematch. Harrison was seen as a facile opponent for Mell.

Anyway, a past Austin Trout showed that Mell is not that good. And then Harrison strongly confirmed it.

Charlo was the favorite in the rematch I'm quite sure. I don't think most thought he lost. As I recall the scoring that night was questionable all around as they were curiously wide with Jermall over Korobov in a fight where Korobov was thought to have done well.

Jermall probably won it because of the KD in the 12th otherwise Korobov wins 7-5 or at least draws 6-6.

Of you notice Jermall wont even rematch the guy ranked 50th MW in the world who fought on short notice....

Shows you how much the Charlos think of themselves. Call out Danny Jacobs, get confronted, never mention Jacobs again. And now they're fighting can after can despite the plethora of quality MW fighters today (Canelo, Danny, GGG, Andrade, Dervenchenko, maybe BJS, etc)

Harrison boxed Mell and on short notice-old Korobov gave fists to Mall. These were the best opponents for Charlos and they have failed to impress. The problem is both Charlotte bros got back on that ol' bum-feast(Jorge Luis Cota Lugo and Brandon Adams).

TBF mate, Mell was gonna rematch Harrison. It's Harrison who has pulled out injured.

Hopefully we see it in the fall.

To be fair, Jorge Cota is only a short-notice replacement for Tony Harrison. It's not as if Jermell had intentionally tried to seek an easy opponent for his next outing.

A fight between Charlo and Cota is admittedly a bit of a mismatch, but I don’t know who else was realistically available.

With or without Jorge Cota or Adams, both Charlotte's resumes are soft padded. They supposed to be the next big thing in boxing. The next real deals, the next boogeymen?!

meh, late replacement of a fight to avenge a loss, mismatch but not much can do

im more disappointed in malls career stagnating, hopefully hes not left waiting too long for a big fight,. he has some wbc interim beelt or something but i see nothing about him fighting canelo

ppl were disappointed when willie monroe was mentioned for mall, but willie actually beat 2 of malls 4 mw campaign opponents

Nope. Bottom line is Mell struggled against a washed up Trout and then upset by Harrison(who was seen as an easy match). Also Mall struggled vs an old washed up version of Korobov.

You compare two different things son! Charlos are afro-american fighters with a wannabe flashy style, very vocals and they had a big hype train behind them. GGG was/is from an unknown country from Central Asia and he didn't speak english. Also he is not having a 'flashy'- media appealing personality/style. Guess who had the more hard work to do? Not to say that GGG was screwed in Germany and he was 'prohibited' from fights with Sturm and Zbik.

The thing is Charlos had all the 'incentives' to be some boxing stars but no real talent, dedication and toughness like GGG had/s. Charlos hype train was derailed by some wrong 'cherries' b/c Charlos were not no 'real deal material' like GGG.

You came off as a guy who knows a thing or two with the Andy Ruiz thread, but you're coming off like an idiot with this one.

Whether or not The Charlo's ever become P4P talents or whatever, they've already become Boxing stars, and I'd be pretty surprised if Jermell didn't win his title back from Harrison. They wouldn't have gotten as far as they did if they had no talent.

I'm no fan of either of the Charlo's either for the record, but that doesn't mean I feel the need to post a bunch of nonsense about 'em.

I didn't say you were an idiot. I said you're sounding like one here. They didn't get "exposed" by Harrison and Korobov. They had close contests. That's all.

Jermall won his, and Jermell will almost certainly win the rematch with Harrison. They're still players at 154. How far they ultimately go only time will tell, but they're certainly at the very least good boxers. They just may not be great boxers.

I mean Jacobs doesn't exactly set the world on fire with his performances, but yeah I think he'd kick Jermall's ass, and he's certainly not as cocky as the Charlo's in spite of the fact that he's better. I'm assuming it's the cockiness that rubs you the wrong way so much about them? Lots of fighters are like that. I too prefer the guys that just tend to do their talking in the ring, but Boxing needs sh*t talkers to draw the crowds I suppose. Boxing is chock full of characters. Some are relatable, some are jackasses, some you're indifferent to. I figure it's always more interesting to either Love or Hate the fighter than to just barely notice them at all.
