Andy Whittle's report on Warrington v Galahad in this week's Boxing News contains a brilliant sentence that totally captures the essence of the fight.

Whittle writes: "Whatever the fact, the oft-scrappy nature of proceedings didn't make for particulalry scintillating viewing and while it was absorbing in a perverse sort of way there was precious little for the connoisseur to warm to."

It conjures the wonderful image of the fight fan - no longer a snarling, coked up Leeds football hooligan - as the cultured gentleman reflecting in his drawing room on a piece of high art while holding a brandy and a fine cuban cigar. It also says, in a very British way, that the actual boxing was shite. Love it. Boxing News has never been better.

Is Andy Whittle a pen name? That’s a Macintoshian sentence if you ask me.

I’ll have a look through some articles or reviews. I can think of loads of great little succinct quotes but not one line for a whole fight, Moff the top of my head.

Big Ron took a lot of stick for his commentary in the fight but in his defence he's usually spot on when it comes to reading a fight

I think he’s brilliant. Not a criticism one bit. His worst day in the office ever the other night but I think he’s the best out now.

Not a sentence and I can’t remember word for word but harry Mullan final summing up of Bradley stones fight with Ritchie in BN brought a lump to the throat to say the least..

He’s been at Boxing News since I used to buy it which was ages ago. His reviews are pretty good. I didn’t know he was on here.

If he could cut out the big words that nobodies ever heard of before he could be ranked among the best in the business but who really deep down wants him to change? Not me anyway i think he is among the best, he's almost always spot on, fair enough he's been getting slated for Warrington/Galahad but truth be told it was am awful fight to score and even though most had it close I bet on there was loads of us who disagreed on all 12 rounds but come up with same scores, you can tell by Ron's style he loves skills, he was probably just trying to find the cuter boxing in the fight and that was from Galahad

I knows Counter Puncher loves Big Ron so that's good enough for me

I also love Big Ron, FWIW (though he was well wrong the other night!), but my favourite one-sentence sum-up of a boxing match is Glyn Leach, writing about Marco Antonio Barrera vs Paul Lloyd:

"It was like watching a toddler walk into a threshing machine."

I don't know the reference here, but I have to say I'm intrigued. I know you said you can't remember word for word, but what was the gist of what was said here?

I've seen commentators say some really beautiful stuff that moves me too. Not a lot, but it's been known to happen.

It was something along the lines of that he died chasing his dream and that If we had to die tragically young there can’t be many better things said about you. You will have to forgive my translation gilgamesh as some years have passed but it was very poignant especially as I knew Ricthie bk then

I remember that article, it was front laden of the BN, and the headline was something like died chasing his dreams, a moving article.
