This sport is taking off fast. I'm not familiar with the legal aspects regarding contracts with other promotions. But, I like that we are seeing boxing vs mma. I can't help but show interest in tonight's fight between Paulie and Artem.
Paulie has the skillset to win this easily. But, he is so emotionally involved, he may blow it. I'd imagine if Conor shows up to the event, Paulie will get too rattled and slip up. I really feel the way Conor conducted himself around their sparring has deeply affected Paulie psychologically. And I can see why. Conor is the biggest prick/bully I've seen.

It's been quite a journey over the last decade. The first few "sanctioned" events were in England with "rings" made out of hay bales, under the watchful eye of a local sheriff or magistrate who allowed it to take place.
It didn't take long to weed out the frauds and the real deals. Mainly because the frauds refused to participate as competitors or would start their own organization, never compete in it, etc--- or they would "fight" people nobody ever heard of in some undisclosed location, and it was obviously fake, or they had opponents take dives at organized events.
Boxing is boxing, regardless of fists or gloves. Generally speaking the man with the most skills and experience will win the contests, just like with gloved boxing.
However--- because it is bone on bone contact, occasionally an underdog gets the win, because it doesn't take much to cut or swell someone.
My only issue with the BKB of today is that it's not the BKB of Sullivan, let alone Bartley Gorman. There's no wrestling, etc--- it's just the Marquis of Queensbury rules with bare knuckles. It may be more exciting, but, I tend to think that the MQ rules just causes more chance of permanent injury.
As for Malignaggi, I used to like and respect the dude. But ever since McGregor he's turned into not just a slimey bastard but a complete attention whore. He's an annoying fuckwit who needs his ass handed to him by somebody.
Whether Artem Lobov will be that man to do it is another question. Win or lose, though, Malignaggi will know he's been in a fight--- unless he pulls out his bicycle and basically runs, slips, dodges, etc the entire time. Which I wouldn't be surprised if he did instead of fulfilling his promise to "knock him out and piss in his toothless mouth."

No doubt prime Paulie would whoop Lobov. I've seen some his MMA fights, Lobov was awful. Now he fights a boxing match against a boxer. Yes, there will be no gloves, but I don't think, that it will be a huge factor. The only real factor that will affect Paulie is the fact, that he is an aging retired fighter. The only question for me is if Paulie was able to prepare enough. The opponent sucks though. Well, we'll see everything soon.

I think a combination of Malignaggi not taking Artem seriously, the bare fists, the two-minute rounds, and the insistence of the company that all fights must be entertaining brawls..... Makes for an interesting contest.... Malignaggi is no brawler and has hand issues.

I understand. But, as most fighters, Paulie is a very proud man. He is held in high regard as a boxer and a commentator. He went to help Conor prepare for Floyd. In return he gets bamboozled when he shows up to spar. He gets unexpectedly roughed up and trash talked while it being taped and in front of some important people. Then, he has the sparring footage shown where it looks like he it is getting battered. I can understand this man's frustration. he was absolutely humiliated in turn for trying to help someone out. I'm sure he'd like to literally kill Conor. But, he can't get to Conor. So, he is taking out his frustration on Artem.
how would you react if this happened to you...
Conor is a complete pos who has no morals when it comes to furthering his own agendas.

I can't say I have any interest in this. Go artem. Paulie is an assclown. If conor paid me to spar I wouldn't care at all. It certainly wouldn't consume my life for years on end. I hope McGregor drops him after the fight.

If Paulie got his ass handed to him, and is lying that it didn't happen, and is angry that the truth was told--- I'd tell him to man up. His intentions going there wasn't entirely pure because weeks beforehand he said he'd beat McGregor's ass.
Now if the sparring session was overblown, then who cares? Instead of complaining about it, getting angry about it, he should look at the big picture. If he destroys Artem what does it prove other than you're officially a bully because the opponent was limited? If you annihilate Artem just to take out frustrations because of McGregor, what does it say to your character?
If he wants McGregor, then he should have made every concession just to get McGregor. Instead, he's joining a sideshow promotion in a match that's nothing more than a curiosity just so he has an excuse to make more videos ranting how McGregor is a bitch ducking him--- and we have to hear this nonsense for another few years.
Now had I got whooped in sparring I'd shrug my shoulders and say, "Maybe next time I'll get you back." After all sparring and fighting are two different things. Now, if someone exaggerated their prowess--- which is not unusual in this sport because everyone thinks they're the shiznit--- I'd laugh and say, "Ahuh, we'll see next time."
It's ironic that originally Malignaggi was actually quite complimentary of McGregor after sparring him the first time (8 rounds) and was again after the second time (12 rounds) only to completely flip out just because a clip or two was shown to the public.
Malignaggi has this mentality that McGregor broke "the code of ethics" by doing so, but--- if he actually looked at the big picture, nobody took the fight seriously in any capacity UNTIL that clip was released, making it suddenly the biggest money fight of all time. So, instead of being pissed off, Malignaggi ought to be proud he basically was the catalyst for making the fight seem legitimate.
It was a great night for combat sports. Boxing and MMA fans all coming together. McGregor, though beaten, did the MMA community proud. Mayweather, for the first time in a long time, gave us all a fun night. It was a nice little note to end his career with instead of that boring fight with Andre Berto. It was truly an EVENT, something boxing hasn't had often in the passed forty years.
The fact that Malignaggi won't let it go, only shows that despite everything he's ever done he's always going to be remembered for the sparring session. And that drives him batshit.

I think an old fat Hatton would probably fare well in bare knuckle. Better than babyfists Pauly.

Yeah, that should be on in a couple hours. It's like a 40 fight freaking card.

Randall Bailey is apparently on this card. That might be more interesting than the Paulie fight.

The big difference between this and boxing aswell, is that once you're in the clinch in this format, the ref isn't gonna break it up like they do in boxing.
That's where Artem needs to try and fight the majority of the fight, because with his MMA background, he's gonna be better at working the clinch than Paulie is.
Also Paulie had brittle ass hands wearing gloves! I wouldn't be shocked if his hand ends up messed up after the first significant punch he lands.

Probably, hard little fcuker but then so is Paulie, personally I think he’s mad doing this, he’s great at commentary and very knowledgeable, he could be a great trainer, guessing he’s being paid a fair wedge?

I've said this before, but can you imagine the damage to this would do to Paulie's ego if he loses to Artem Lobov.
I don't think he'd be able to handle it.

Given Conor's character and not releasing the entirety of the sparring session, do you really think Paulie is lying?
So, you are saying since Paulie was used as a tool to boost sales of the PPV he should be proud? He was embarrassed and used. It's easy to say we would have reacted differently when it's not us being treated that way. But, judging on how many of the posters on this forum react to online disrespect, I take any potential actions regarding similar scenarios with a grain of salt.
I don't agree with Paulie's annoying actions. I am saying I understand.

This promotion would have been more fitting for Baily's entire career. Too bad for him it's just now getting going.

Yeah true. Atleast he might be able to get a few relatively big pay days, late in his career like this though.

Going for a big win on Malignaggi. He might actually do a bit of damage in BK. Shouldn't take more than a few slips and some crisp counters.

Sadly I've found out since posting this that he's had to cancel. I assume due to injury. That f*cking sucks, because I'd rather see Bailey fight anybody in this. Bailey simply fighting in the BKFC was more interesting to me than the main event bout.
