Francesco Patera vs Paul Hyland Jr

Just noticed Sky have picked his card up this Friday, happy days, Patera making the second defence of his European Lightweight title against Hyland Jr, not seen Patera since he schooled Ritson, I liked him that night he exposed the flaws in Ritson's total disregard for defence and head movement, hurt Ritson bad a couple of times as well to the body
Not seen Hyland since he was blown away in a round by Ritson either, he tried to fight it out with Ritson after getting hurt and played right into Ritson's hands, it was easy work, I remember Hyland struggling with Ormond as well and getting away with some generous scoring, I think Patera should win here

Yeah I think Sky are also showing the Rome card in July as well - Tommy McCarthy & 1 other Gb fighter on the card.
Sure I read Jamie McDonnell is fighting Friday now as well but not listed on here yet but flying to Italy today.

I think its the Super Middleweight fight between Daniele Scardina and Alessandro Goddi that tops the bill here, all Italian affair so I'm not surprised really, Scardina's already topped one of Matchroom Italy's bill but it wasn't shown over here, he's unbeaten in 16 with 14 coming early, Goddi is by far the more experienced boxer, fought twice for the European title down at Middleweight, lost a decision to Blandamura and was blown away in 2 rounds by Kamil Szeremeta
Looks like Hearn is trying to make Scardina the poster boy of Italian Boxing

I'm still not sure about how good Hyland is yet, seen him sweep aside Dingsdale in a round, got the win over Ormond, some thought it was a gift, I never scored it myself but it was close, maybe Ormond edged it? Still Ormond's always a handful, the form book suggests someone who beat Ritson easily should deal with a guy who Ritson blew away in a round quite easily but boxing doesn't always work like that
Still gotta go with Patera though, he impressed me with the way he dealt with Ritson who although was always gonna struggle defensively when stepping up was destroying domestic opposition

Interesting bout, it's right that Patera is the favourite, but I wouldn't write Hyland off.
Patera weathered the early storm vs Ritson and outboxed him in the second half of the fight.
Hyland tried to fight fire with fire and it was like taking a water pistol to a gunfight.
But this will be very different to both those fights, neither has Ritson's power so there will be no early storm to weather.
Hyland wont just walk forward and get clipped with counters round after round.
I predict a bit of a chess match with Patera winning by a few rounds.

Really good start. Can't see this pace lasting.

A bit of a rout for Patera, another impressive performance, Hyland Jr down 4 times in 6 rounds mainly from lefts to the body although the first knockdown he walked Hyland on to a cracking right hand right at the end of the 2nd round, I thought Hyland battled on even terms in the 1st round but you've got to question his tactics again here, seems his fighting heart took over and he learned nothing from the Ritson loss, I'm not sure why he didn't choose to use his height and reach to try to box Patera, no jab whatsoever, it was dangerous and it seems he just cant help but just march forward and try to have a tear up
Patera was a lot more composed, landing the right hand and digging some hurtful shots downstairs, Hyland saved by the bell again when he was decked for a second time right at the end of the 5th, Patera showed great composure to put Hyland down right at the start of the 6th, same left hand to the body, Hyland's corner should've stopped it there, they'll know Hyland's a brave SOB, no surprise to see Patera finish him for good with the last bodyshot
I admire Hyland's bravery but suicidal tactics were his downfall, i'd like to see Patera back over with one of our Lightweights, he's a nice boxer and a tough SOB himself

Scardina beats Goddi by comfortable UD, I had him winning 98-82, he was alright, Scardina deserved his win against a game and sometimes willing opponent in Goddi who was strong and tough, I doubt Scardina will go that far, he's still a couple fights off European level and nowhere near the power puncher his record suggests, he's more of a boxer, moves well enough, puts some of his shots together nicely and as the fight wore on he whipped in some nice lefts to the body, not sure if he hurt his right hand as he barely threw it later in the fight and when he did there was nothing on it
He never hurt Goddi and I think Goddi might have been the bigger puncher, he just couldn't hit Scardina clean enough to get in the fight,, pretty meh performance from Scardina TBH, maybe it was the hand injury but too much pot shotting for me and needs to go through the gears more often

Patera looks to be improving with age but Hyland’s team must surely have watched Ritson fight and realised don’t walk straight on into him and move him around.
Scardini didn’t look anything special for their next big hope - most UK SMW would take him out on that showing.

Horrible tactics from Hyland Jr but another clinical performance from Patera, steady fighter at European level with a solid chin & good engine, picked his shots well again tonight particularly to the body.
