So the 'Franchise' Champion is WBC 's best title

We Belove Canelo terms of the leeching:
1. The Franchise Champion will be designated as WBC Emeritus Champion once he retires from boxing.
2. The Franchise Champion will proudly represent the WBC in every single fight as a reigning WBC champion, regardless of any specific conditions or titles being associated with all future fights. WBC rules and regulations will govern under the traditional conditions of boxing in the Franchise champion fights. WBC will approve through the franchise champion promoter every opponent scheduled to fight.
3. Franchise Champion agrees to participate in a minimum of two social responsibility events every year, organized and in conjunction with the WBC.
4. The WBC may recognize a WBC champion in the division or divisions where the Franchise champion currently competes.
5. The WBC may award a Diamond Championship belt in those fights in which the Franchise Champion engages. If the Franchise Champion loses, the winner will receive the Diamond belt and may be considered as mandatory contender of the division.
wbc still wants to milk Canelo but he could dump them if he wants.

As long as Canelo is making big money, wbc wants a share of it.

It's a lifetime award. Wbc belt holder forever and can fight whoever he wants at whatever weight without losing the belt even if he loses.

DAZN should do everyone a favor and ban WBC participation in any form from it's events.
As should every other platform that shows boxing.

Ridiculous.
The WBC is probably the most fabled of the sanctioning bodies.
You can do away with all the other organizations for all I care, but the WBC is the body that probably has the highest degree of recognition in the sport.
So many great champions have represented that organization. Legends. It's been the force among sanctioning bodies for over 50 years.
DAZN (and any other network) would be signing its own death warrant if it foolishly banned WBC participation from its telecasts.
I doubt the boxing public would appreciate such misguided spite. They want to see the top fighters. They're not concerned with any petty quarrels over belts, rankings and such.

WBC has done it again... Out of all the shit orgs they are officially the worst.
I hope Canelo dumps the meaningless trinket.
They are making total fornicating mockery of the whole sport

Does the belt depict Sulaiman puckering up Canelo's butt cheeks?

From when the positive test came out, Sulaiman was literally on his cöck! Backed him all the way. Kinda a way to get Canelo to forgive the WBC.

If that's the case Fury would have won the decision over Wilder.

Makes no sense, and the rules are just plain dumb.
Well, then again the WBC is what it is, even worse then the WBA. Wow, just wow.
Im going with the Boxrec and The Ring-rating. I don't care for this belts anymore. Might get the fighters some extra money, but don't care really.

This is staggeringly lame! Their delusion in thinking anyone will find this cool is amazing to me. They are now the Wackest Boxing Council.

What is interesting is neither Canelo or ODLH didn't say nothing official about this situation.

It's ridiculous. If Canelo loses, he keeps his franchise belt and the winner gets the diamond belt instead, and MAYBE a shot at Charlo (who holds a lower status than Canelo).
So basically, whoever beats Canelo would only be considered 3rd best in the division, according to the WBC. Should the WBA slot Ruiz into their rankings just below Charr too?

I think Canelo doesn't even care. He's bigger than those belts. He could fight only under The Ring belt and that's it.

If I was Canelo or Oscar that's what I'd do.
No sanctioning fees no bullshit.
Throw the belts away once you are recognized as the true champ of your division

That makes sense to hardcore fans. But casuals are still impressed by seeing an actual belt around a fighter's waist.
Promoters and networks know this. That's why they constantly regurgitate the tale that Fury is the lineal champ. He holds no belt but it makes it more impressive to say that he owns some mythic crown.

Doesn't the ring still hand out belts?
