An excellent piece and nobody ever has a bad word to say about Gerry, a quite brilliant coach. Hugh Russell and Davy Larmour really looked the part as amateurs (both Olympians) and won British titles in the pro ranks in a golden era for Irish boxing in the early 1980s. Russell, nicknamed "Red", won the British bantamweight title, lost it to Larmour, then dropped down and won the British flyweight title from Kelvin Smart in a big upset.

Nice one, people like Gerry Storey, Nugget Nugent (Immaculata) and Mickey and Harry Hawkins (Holy Trinity) deserve loads of respect. Not only do they keep turning out champions, they do so much for the community as well.
