Lots of fast-rising prospects here. It will be interesting to see which of them will win a pro world title before the others. Not including Interim, "Gold" or "Silver" title belts, but just full-fledged world titles.

* MURODJON AKMADALIEV is currently the mandatory WBA world title challenger for WBA/IBF champ Daniel Roman, and recent WBA purse bid says their fight must take place by September 30.

The purse bid took place in Panama City, Panama with World of Boxing being the only bidding party. The fight must take place by September 30, 2019.

I was wavering between picking either Lopez or Vergil Ortiz but after finding out that Ortiz will be fighting at 147 again in his August bout I realized it will probably take him longer to get a world title shot at welter (where he's never been rated) than at super light (where he's rated among top 6 in world by both WBA & WBC).

And there's no shortage of outstanding champions at welterweight.

It's difficult to imagine Ortiz winning a belt so quickly in that weight class. Especially since he's fought primarily in a lighter weight class and it has been against the usual "learning" opponents.

As good as Ortiz has looked, does anyone believe he currently belongs in the ring with Spence, Crawford, Porter, Thurman or a WBA regular champion in Pacquiao?

His competition so far has hardly prepared him for that level.

No need to rush the prospects. Let them develop.

What's Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov like? Surely he's due a world title shot before the end of the year? I've only ever seen snippets of him compete, so I don't really know much about him.

Rakhimov is #4 with the WBC and #6 with IBF!! So you may well be right that he could get a world title shot before 2019 is over!!

Teo Lopez probably wont fight IBF champ Richard Commey until October or later. The main reason I picked Lopez to win a world title before Akhmadaliev is because I consider Teo's chances of beating Commey better than Akhmadaliev's chances of beating Daniel Roman. We'll see...time will tell.

I'm not at all surprised that the Uzbekistani has almost as many votes here as Lopez does. Altho I consider Roman-Akhmadaliev a "pick-em" matchup I can understand why many see Murodjon as a clear favorite. Either way it should be a great, competitive fight & I am looking forward to it!!

dont see the same talent in ak that i do in teo. both commey and roman are tough opponents for guys without much pro experience. teo should beat him but not sure ak beats roman

I'm a big fan of prospects and try to avoid overlooking any of them. If you are one of those who voted "someone else" please feel free to let us know who you have in mind that I may be overlooking.

Looks like Murodjon Akhmadaliev has the inside track for becoming the first ex-amateur standout with under 16 pro bouts to win a world title, because his world title shot against WBA/IBF super bantam champs Daniel Roman is slated for September 13. Shakur Stevenson will be fighting for the WBO feather title vacated by Oscar Valdez against Joet Gonzalez, but it hasnt gone to purse bids yet. Teofimo Lopez has yet to sign a contract to face IBF lightweight champ Richard Commey, even though he is mandatory IBF challenger.

If I could change my pick it would probably be Shak because he clearly has the smoothest road to a world title with a relatively less-experienced foe like Joet Gonzalez. I originally picked Teo Lopez but he showed major flaws vs Nakatani.

For me, I think Roman will win his fight.

Shak and Teo I both favour if they fight Gonzo/Commey next, but I favour Shak by a bigger margin and I get the sense Shak's fight is more in the works and will happen sooner.

Akhmadaliev-Roman got nixed because Roman was injured in training. I picked Lopez in this thread too, but he wont be facing Commey until mid-December, so it looks like Stevenson will be the guy, provided he wins (as expected) tomorrow night against Joet Gonzalez.
