I was mooching around boxrec earlier and noted that Saul Farah has been the Bolivian HW champion for ten years. It’s a weak area but still a long reign, so it got me to thinking: who is the current longest reigning champion? World, regional or national all count just the one who has reigned longest out of current champions...

He is listed as being a boxer, promoter, matchmaker and referee!
Looking at his opponents records it looks as though he organises shows and gets himself a likely opponent into the bargain

Sure, boxrec only lists half a dozen Bolivian HW’s and he sometimes fights a far lighter opponent! For all we know he also runs the Bolivian boxing board...
Still, legitimacy of the Bolivian title aside I wonder who are the longer reigning champions out there?

Surely there is someone longer than Wilder. His name just popped in my head. GGG would have been but he ‘lost’ his belts.
Stevenson is another who recently lost, he had his belt for a while.
Thurman?? WBA Champion?

Wow this thread has made me realise how poor boxing currently is for having anyone showing longevity of holding a title as the two longest appear to be either Wilder with 4 and a half years or Thurman with 6 years if you include his crappy WBA belt, and even then it was originally an interim version

Chayaphon Moonsri aka Wanheng Menayothin won the WBC belt in November 2014.. Before Wilder won his WBC belt in Jan 2015.
Thurman won interim WBA belt in July 2013.
Thammanoon Niyomtrong aka
Knockout CP Freshmart first won the interim WBA belt in October 2010..
Gary Russell Jr since March 2015
Ringondeaux has been the Lineal champion since April 2013.. If that counts. Never lost in the ring at super-bantamweight.
Had he not been stripped of the WBA belt, it would probably be him. He won the Interim WBA belt in November 2010, and regular WBA champion in January 2012..

I'm not sure boxers keep regional belts that long, unless they're settled with regional belts. Most tend to challenge for world titles sooner rather than never.

The OPBF belt can be held for quite a while, I think some of their champions have reigned for a few years...

Nakatani has had the Lightweight one since January 2014, pretty sure that's the longest.
The PABA title was the one that Thais held for years, with like Teerachai going through various versions of it from 2010 to 2017

Samson Elite Gym/Dutch Boy/3k Battery? All but 3 of his 43 fights were for that WBF title, held it for 8 years.
