Which Lewis? The one who fought McCall and Bruno and Rahman? Which Witherspoon? The that fought Holmes? This scenario I give Tim a big chance

I say the Witherspoon that lost to bigfoot Martin pulls this one out by split dec

Prime Lewis beats prime Witherspoon 10/10. No question.

Witherspoon at his best, beats the Lewis who fought Mercer, Mavrovic, Holyfield II, and of course Rahman I.

Very silly by Oogie. Lewis was clueless when you took away his jab and the sublime clever Spoon who outjabbed Holmes would do the same to Lewis. Tim also has the much better chin and, unlike Lewis, can fight on the inside. Witherspoon 10/10 is more realistic.

I thought too as well with Lennox Lewis taking a hard fought decision against "Terrible" Tim Witherspoon.

Lewis was much more consistent but envisioning them fighting 10 times without spoon landing that vaunted overhand right is outside any comprehension I'm gifted with. The Holmes version could outpoint him too. Maybe 60/40 Lennox.

I don't understand the all the fuzz surrounding Lennox Lewis. Was he a great fighter? Yes. But, I was not that high on him. I don't think that he was all that to tell you the truth. I am more pleased in his accomplishments than his boxing ability. A guy that loses to bums like Hasim Rahman and Oliver McCall by knockout shouldn't be all that in my view.

spoons overrated in head to heads, ppl too often assume a version that often didnt come close to showing up. no doubt at his best he was for real though

All of a sudden, witherspoon is some sort of killer! Terrible Tim was a marginal fighter who landed an overhand right on occasion. Mostly he was an out of shape ex-footballer.

Lewis was consistent yes but he had a completely different set of circumstances to Timmy. Lewis was the only horse in his stable and handsomely paid. Spoon was just another unloved nag in Don King's vast stable at the peak of his monopoly and was never paid.

You might want to watch Witherspoon versus Larry Holmes and come back when you're informed.

I saw that fight and I also remember Holmes saying he had been sick with diarhea before the fight. Larry never made excuses, but he said he lost a lot of strength because of that.

Witherspoon gave Holmes a tough fight, but Larry won clearly. That performance of him is so underestimated.

He also says he only got 3 weeks notice to fight Mike Tyson even though we have him on tape interviewed after Tyson/Biggs promoting the fight 3 months in advance. Holmes will tell any ridiculous lie to save face.

Never seen anyone, not even hardcore Holmes fanatics, claim Holmes beat Spoon clearly in 20 years on boxing boards. Boxing Monthly in the 90s ranked it in their top 10 controversial heavyweight title fight decisions.

I also don’t think a lot of Lewis. Good fighter great jab great size. I was shocked how easily he disposed of Ruddock but I guess he wasn’t the fighter I thought he was then. McCall crushed him and had some sort of meltdown in the rematch. Had he wanted to fight he may have beat him again. Mercer beat him. He avenged Rahman. Big deal he was ko’d a lot. Tyson was old. And he bitched and cried Bowe wouldnt fight him but he turned down an offer. If you have a shot at the heavyweight title and you believe in yourself you take it. Bruno gave him hell to. BRUNO

That's what I am saying. I'm not too high on him, either.

Bruno and Mercer certainly didn't give Spoon hell the way they did Lewis. Obviously Golota beat Spoon and was KOd in 1 by Lewis, but I doubt anyone on this thread would argue that the 40 year old fading Tim was representative of the prime Tim.
In a head to head Spoon is better. Lewis has the better resume, but he also has a better resume than McCall and Mercer, both of whom beat him.
