Yes I'm reading into his recent interviews after the Mitchell fight...He didn't actually say he would not fight Hatton but he definetly wants "the big fights" as he puts it.

Realistically a big fight for him would be either Gatti, Mayweather or maybe Cotto. Unfortunately Hatton does not fit into this catagory.

Yes every British boxing fan wants this to happen but this is not a big money fight for Kostya. I could actually see him vacating the IBF belt to face someone else.

I am not suggesting for a second that he fears Hatton but why would he jump on a plane and fly to England to fight for peanuts to defend his own title...? Not to mention leaving his fate to a possible biased points decision...

I see Ricky fighting for the vacnt IBF crown against the number #3 ranked (which is Ndou).

Just a theory but I just can't see "the big un" happening...

I agree. I believe Warren has waited too long to get Hatton a shot at Kosta and I also believe Warren's done that on purpose. :x

Part of the plan of allegedly could be hoping for Tszyu to vacate and get Hatton into the number one slot which he did.

Tszyu does not need that IBF title, its his name and what he has done that will bring him the big fights and he can still enter the ring with the WBC "EMERITUS" title and be called a World Champion, after all he is the number 1.

The likes of Gatti and Mayweather will be major PPV events. I can see Hatton getting his shot against a contender and Tszyu going for a major pay day.

With the form of Tszyu against Mitchell, I think even more so this will be their plan, as much as Id like to see Hatton in with Tszyu, I cannot see it happening.

I agree, although Hatton said on BBC sports website today that he was willing to travel to fight Tszyu. Bolton perhaps?

Tszyu wants to take Hatton to Moscow for a fight, he's got a lotta fans over their. Would Ricky travel to Moscow? Mitchell was willing.

Hatton doesn't deserve a Zoo fight.

He is in an extremely talented division where I would favour at least 10 boxers to beat him. Including Witter.

True, Hatton although IBF #1 is yet to beat a genuine top 10 fighter.

Of course Hatton deserves a shot at Tszyu, a lot more than some of the recent bums we've seen challenging for world titles.
At least we'd be assured of an entertaining fight. Let's face it, there's not too many who'd pass on a ticket to see Tszyu v Hatton. A guaranteed slugfest, while it lasts ( 4 rounds ).
And yes, this is a big fight: The undisputed champ, taking on the biggest drawcard at 140 - why not? Big money for Kostya I think....

You honestley think he deserves a shot more than Gatti Mayweather and Harris. Hatton couldn't take them shots any better than Mitchell did and he is easier to hit.

Also "no joke" Stewart hurt Mitchell but couldnt even make Hatton flinch.

Hate to say it but there would be plenty of people who would pass on the fight, at least in the States where Hatton still has to really make his name. He's not the biggest drawcard at 140 by far, a Tszyu fight against Mayweather, Cotto or Gatti would draw much bigger worldwide.

Well, its no surprise really. That's why he's fighting an old man who will be weight drained next as a "tune up". We all knew Zoo wouldn't fight him anyway.

Hatton has done enough in terms of status in the sanctioning bodies to earn a shot.

However. A bona-fide top drawer fighter like Tszyu, has earned the right to close out his career in the manner of his choosing. That means he doesn't need the belts around his waist. He is in the same position Barrera found himself in where he is bigger than the belts. Probably not as big a draw as Barrera, and needs another fighter to make a really big fight, but Cotto, Mayweather and Gatti can all provide that.

There will need to be some serious wonga on the table to get him to face Hatton.

Brittish fighters always have to go the hard route. They become number one contenders and never get the shot at the title. Eastman/Hatton a few!

Showtime likely would push for Vivian Harris to be next for Kostya, especially since Gatti and Mayweather are HBO fighters (luckily, however, I don't think Showtime has any sort of official contract for Tszyu anymore, so he could skip to HBO to make those fights). I'm sure if he stays with Showtime, it'll be Harris or Cory Spinks who he's been talking about fighting since before Spinks was the unified champion. They'd also accept a fight with Hatton, but there was no mention of his name (surprisingly) by the announce team, so I have to assume they don't truly believe Hatton would make such a fight.

How does Zoo make good money from a Hatton fight?

It is horrendously delusional to think Ricky is a bigger draw in the US than Floyd, Cotto or Gatti.


And Warren has shown on a depressingly frequent number of occasions he is not prepared to pay top dollar to visiting champions.


That's why none of them come over.

As much as i like Ricky i'd rather not see him win the belt when its been vacated, would mean alot more if he actually took the belt from some one.

After the fight on the showtime broadcast i think it was.. they mentioned Hatton as the likely opponent..
