It's for the best imo. He's done incredibly well out the game given his level of talent. Considering there's Dubois, Gorman, Joyce, hughie, bakole, chisora, whyte and price all ahead of him in the country's pecking order (and possible more, obv discounting AJ and Tyson). He'll prob pick up some work with sky too, or do his own ifl style channel.
Wish him all the best, I worried about him and the damage he took.

Certainly hope so. He’s been beaten up on a number of occasions and takes way too many punches even at the best of times. He must have made good money now and hopefully bought a few houses like he said he would. Get out now and enjoy it.

He is tough, but always takes a lot of punishment. He becomes a punching bag for everyone, who is significantly more classy. So there's no point for him in trying to challenge the top guys. Instead it's better to take care of the health indeed.

He'll be back. Retirements are like breakups, the first one never is permanent.

Thing is, if he does come back, at what level does he compete?
He’s done well out the game in the last couple of years and has been blessed with his career. When this Price beats you up, you’re not even domestic level in the current British heavyweight scene.
Kash Ali could beat him I reckon.
If he can land a decent media role then take it with both hands.

Whatever happens, let's not all jump on the - Dave Allen isn't that good - bandwagon. He is good and he's shown that. He got beaten last night by another good fighter. It happens.
Personally, I'd like to see him call it a day too but it's his decision. Reading his tweet, I'm wondering whether he's actually fit to do it still "declining health".

It depends how we define good, he may win a British title if he gets the right opponent but that's it.
He seems a really nice lad Dave I wish him well and I don't think last nights matchmaking was poor either, no one was really against it especially off the back of the Browne KO.

He’ll be back if there is decent money on offer, he’s only 27, also fighters who retire straight after a fight rarely stay retired, it’s like kids who drink too much and say they’ll never drink again. If he does though good luck to him, nice fella.

What aspect of his health is alluding to? He's had mental health issues on the past, really hope he's not struggling again.

I would say I would like to see him have an easy fight to finish off but the problem is he will win by ko and think he can go places again. I really like Dave and I’d like him to finish because he really hasn’t beat anybody. I think we will see how shot Browne is when he fights little. Allen loses to most British level heavyweights

Dave has set himself up now. It’s great that he didn’t need the lavish lifestyle just a few £100k paycheques.. not millions.
Bellew needed his Haye paydays, he couldn’t just live off his previous purses. But he’s invested the money well too in properties.

Would love him to win a title of some sort. British is beyond him but maybe English

I agree. English or the Northern Area title, he can have something to look back on fondly.

David should probably retire now, done incredible for his skill set but the miles have caught up now and he's not gonna pass the mot. I just hope there's no long term damage, some of them shots ( even the jabs) were very meaty.

I hope Allen packs it in, it was good to see him get in shape and pull off a couple of good wins, Webb and Browne are respectable wins for someone who is even debateable if he's even British level, he has never had a single shred of defence and even in the few times he was in decent shape still takes too long to get going, seems content for guys to tee of on him until he warms into things, dangerous tactics especially in the HW division, as I say the flaws were still there but he was looking trim and was getting guys out of there so I gave him a god chance of chinning Price but a lot of that was to do with what Price had left, I thought Price was superb, even had a strong jab which was a sight to behold
Price fought with confidence which was great to see but yeah Allen needs to pack it in, he's already been sounding punchy, now that he's admitted his health issues I doubt he'll be allowed to carry on without some serious checks

A lot of fighters need to keep going for a few quid, hopefully he has earned his money and can retire without any damage.

I was one of those who thought Davey was turning his career around, but he had no answers for Price. He took a decent beating. I heard that he had a broken cheekbone, but nothing confirmed. Until we know what these health issues are, I don't know if he should retire, he just couldn't overcome the height and reach advantages of Price, who finally used them as well as I've seen him.

A bust cheekbone won't hurt him much, it is only him who knows if he is getting beat up.
I reckon he is a fairly limited fighter, who with Eddies backing has done real well. Hopefully he has been paid accordingly and knows the best time to get out.
If last night was just a bust cheekbone, he is still there for some paydays and maybe some kind of title fight.

He should retire, he made a comment on twitter afterwards that his health has been deteriorating in the last 12 months. His health should be paramount.

I cant see him stopping, but anyone with a decent skill set is going to use him as target practice. His head movement is none existent.
Allen is durable, but the hype was getting ridiculous and it resulted in a schooling last night. I've not seen any improvement in his form other than him losing weight.
Price didn't look to be letting the big bombs go to me, happy to punish Allen all night with a good quality jab and using well schooled boxing.
