Groups of boxers who were each others' common opponents

For no other initial purpose than to kill some time on a recent train journey I started to think about groups of boxers who were all each others' common opponents. It's become a bit more addictive and I even found myself doing it to help me nod off at night.
Anyway, plenty of fours come to mind (eg. Hagler, Minter, Finnegan and Sibson) and I eventually found a group of five - Ali, Lyle, Shavers, Ellis, Bugner - but that's it to date. Maybe there's a similar thread somewhere but otherwise anyone up for finding more and raising the bar? I'd be impressed if anyone finds a five in the 21st century. Extra kudos for thinking outside the box.

This is a great idea. I will give this some serious research. You may have to wait a while and it might be a little more obscure but I will try to come up with a six

There must be one around the Pac/Marquez Axis and probably another around Casa/Corrales etc. Maybe one around the Cunningham/Huck Axis too. I got close but realised Hernandez hadn't fought all of them so failed.

Carlos Ortiz, Len Matthews, Kenny Lane, Doug Vaillant and Dave Charnley - 5
Jose Napoles, Hedgemon Lewis, Armando Muniz, Raul Soriano, Ernie Lopez and Adolph Pruitt - 6 (on this one, funny enough, you could substitute Shotgun Albarado for Jose Napoles and still end up with 6.)

There are at least 2 groups of seven:
Benny Leonard
Rocky Kansas
Freddie Welsh
Johnny Dundee
Charlie White
Johnny Kilbane
Richie Mitchell
And if we replace Mitchell with Joe Mandot, we have another "7".

Now I said I might have to go a bit obscure for most of you. These were all great fighters though.
Eight
Johnny McGrory
Benny Sharkey
Dick Corbett
Dave Crowley
Benny Caplan
Dave Finn
Johnny Peters
Cuthbert Taylor
I don't know if all of the contests are on Boxrec but I have got reports for all of them.

They all fought Arly Hollingsworth as well, so that's nine

Eder Jofre
Jose Medel
Danny Kid
Eloy Sanchez
There's got to be a high number between Jose Medel, Eloy Sanchez, Jose Becerra, Dwight Hawkins, ignacio Pina, Danny Kid etc; maybe I'll find some time later to work out just how much.

Excellent work on here. It'd be interesting to know who comes out top of some of these mini-round robins (where it's not obvious.)

I know the British one from the 1930s is a bit obscure to most but I can post all the results on here if there is the interest. This period is my main area of research and so it is right up my street.
I reckon I can easily get to double figures by looking at another similar group from the same era. Would that also be of interest to anyone?

By the way, isn't it great talking about actual boxing history. I reckon I could easily get the total well above one hundred if I started to include the mythicals........arf....arf!

I would definitely be interested.
Also, while your at it who wins Johnny McGrory or Barry McGuigan? I kid.
Indeed. Actual posts of historical importance. I'm glad to see the idea of a sub-forum for mythical matches has came to fruition.
