Hearn promises David Price another fight

Eddie Hearn has insisted that David Price will get another fight on a Matchroom show after his win last weekend.

The 36-year-old former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion beat David Allen at the O2 Arena in London.

Price won the fight after Allen, battered and bruised by the former Olympic bronze medallist, pulled out after 10 completed rounds, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN Stateside.

And Hearn, who has offered Price numerous lifelines in the past following defeats, now wants to give him a lucrative opportunity on the back of what was his third win on the bounce.

“Price schooled him,” Hearn said in the aftermath about the fight between the Scouser and the Doncaster man who is trained by Darren Barker. “It was a great performance and, actually, I feel a bit for David Price because everyone will be talking about either David Allen’s bad performance or the fact he was taken away on a stretcher.”

Allen, after being withdrawn from the contest, collapsed in the ring and was taken to hospital on a stretcher before later being released and reunited with ‘Pricey’.

Hearn continued: “Price’s performance deserves a lot of respect because he stuck behind the jab, hit [Allen] hard and often, he controlled the pace of the fight and you saw what it meant to him afterwards.

“That’s three domestic wins on the now and I’m not saying he’s going to go on and fight for a world title, but one thing Price will do is fight again.

“I don’t promote David Price but I’m fond of him and have been involved in his last eight fights and although I don’t have a contract with David Price, I kind of feel like his promoter, but he’s free to go where he wants.

“We pay him very well, I like him and I think he’s an exciting fighter who is gaining confidence. He’s still got the frailties and they will always make him exciting.”

Because Fast Eddie knows everything about boxing. Great that Pricey is still going to get some more work.

Yeh, don't get why Frank hasn't approached him.

Maybe Price feels like Hearn has done him favours by having him on his cards, Not like he's signed to Matchroom or Sky.. He's just a card filler. As long as he's relevant even a little bit, Hearn will use him, because he is a name that get's people talking.

That fight is cancelled I believe. Maybe the two can hook up sooner.

What do we all reckon Price’s ambitions are at the moment? A serious title, perhaps picking up the European belt? Or is he just interested in earning before retirement?

from what ive seen he does seem genuinely motivated to prove ppl wrong about what he can do. guys like browne or artur szpilka wouldve been good opponents if they were looking internationally but theyve been knocked out recently in the uk obviously and might be tough sells

id still love to see him grab a euro, there are beatable opponents in the rankings, so maybe he could get a shot if it ever goes vacant. kaybayel would beat him

Dont see what Price has to gain by fighting Browne. The guy has been destroyed in his recent fights as has Spilka

Put him in with Hrgovic or Kownacki and let's see if he has anything to offer at that level.

I think it's time to step up and take one last throw of the dice,he doesn't have loads of time on his side,Saturday was his best performance for years so he should aim high and take the chance.

Michael Hunter is next. On the undercard of Chisora-Parker.

Christ, Hunter is all wrong for Pricey. It will be like Dempsey brutalizing Jess Willard all over again

This is a good shout, Hunter destroys him though.

In all seriousness, Fury-Price. I'd much rather see that than Fury versus another cruiser.

What about Del Boy. Kind of strange that their paths haven't crossed already at some point. Del has had a few highlight reel KOs, but he's generally a bit of a plodder, so it's not inconceivable that Price keeps him on the end of the jab.

He’s one win away from a Lonsdale belt I think? Not saying he’ll go for that next but be good way to end his career if he gets a chance.
