Banning something doesn't make it go away, it forces it underground, forces it to become even more unregulated. We get it here in the Isle of Man every year with the bike races, the naysayers don't get it, never understand it and therefore they want rid of it, but you get rid of it and those men and women will continue to seek their thrills in illegal, less regulated events and the same goes for boxing.

Not sure what sort of responses you’re expecting on a boxing forum...obviously it shouldn’t be banned.

Stupid idea and i'm not even going to bother saying why,it's plainly obvious to all knowledgeable boxing fans why we shouldn't.

Boxing shouldn't be banned. It's an adult choice to take part in sport. There are lots of dangers in any sport. I remember when the 'ban brigade' suggested that heading a ball in football should be banned.

The issues in boxing, and there are many that need addressing need to be looked at by a new commission possibly set up by an independent group that should have whole responsibility in the sport. I'm not sure how this group would be set up but there are clearly issues in drug abuse that needs addressing and the control of bodies developing more and more titles each year.

There needs to be one champion in each weight so would mean that either bodies join together or they go. Again I don't know who would have control, I don't have the answers but it sure is a cespit at the moment.

I really can see the argument for banning. It is an extremely corrupt sport.

If we're going to ban sports, let's ban horse riding first, there's 30 deaths a year in the UK alone, many of whom are minors.

Ban veterinary work, far too many suicides in the profession, it's clearly unhealthy....

Banning something because it's dangerous isn't a good reason to ban it, in fact it isn't even a reason let alone a good one.

Ban anything and it goes underground and becomes more dangerous for everybody involved. I do however think gyms should have signs up like Brendan did saying Boxinf can seriously damage your health, because it can.

Thousands of people are killed crossing the road each year. Should we try to make crossing the road safer or ban it.

I don't know but a few years ago I nearly knocked myself out in the shower, I had quite a violent sneeze and headbutted the wall  :KO:

We needed that laugh. I slipped on my arse in a hotel shower once and made up a story as to why I was limping to avoid embarrassment.

I suppose you can prove anything with statistics. But boxing could be safer. Should be a big effort to make every show at every level safer all the time.

Now about the drugs...
