Kownacki's worst opponent in a year and a half. Not good.

He is probably of similar level to Washington...
Edit: actually he is probably better than Washington

But yeah, looks like he is happy to tread water with top 50 fighters to keep him in line for an eventual shot at the WBC belt

I don't think too many guys higher up in the rankings are that anxious to fight him. Boxrec ranks Washington #16.

Boxrec loves a padded record

Nice to see the friendly interaction between Kownacki and Arreola, tho, for a change - in a sport that has far too little good sportsmanship.

I don't see any padded records here, Kow or Arr,, but they can see what he did to #16.

Well I would say
PBO has Washington ranked at #64
WBC doesn't have him in their top 40

So Washington being ranked at #16 by boxrec should call into question how they rank fighters.

It appears you can have two fighters knocking over journey men on the US or euro circuit, then when one beats the other, the winner is catapulted up the rankings by boxrec

Arreola is better, than Washington. Washington falls apart under pressure, Arreola would whoop him in Kownacki's fashion.

Arreola is no better than Harper or Kauffman i wonder why some rank him in top 50.

Arreola 5 years ago might be better than Washington. Arreola of today most definitely isn’t. He’s beyond shot.

Arreola getting no love here. :maybe: I think that he is a decent stay busy fight, and Arreola has been in decent shape on this comeback.

Kownacki best not be looking past him.

Arreola was life and death with Curtis Harper years ago, the guy who walked out of the ring against Ejagba. He's done.

Arreola can still give Kow three or four decent rounds I'd bet.

Could be an entertaining fringe fat fight.

Won’t be no dancing around throwing a handful of punches, then raising your hands, like you just KTFO Joe Louis, at the end of every round.

Arreola (lol such a fitting name for this fight) though faded usually still lets his fat hands go, i think kownacki should end up beating him up but seems like it could be a fun one for a bit

The jello will be jiggling :yay:

This is going to be a great fight. Two come foward fighters with no regard for defense. It's going to be a knockout early for one or the other.

Arreola is NOT better than Washington. Maybe Arreola circa 2011 was, but he's not that guy any more.

This is a resurgent Arreola. He is in the best shape that he has ever been in, and he has the best attitude.

This will be a fun fight, for as long as it lasts.

Arreola when he was on HBO wouldve battered Washington---totally wrong style for Washington (a guy who flinches at agression) to deal with. But now, hes clearly faded. That said, I think with styles this is sure to be fun while it lasts. Kownacki while he should win still eats punches as much as he does buffets

Resurgent Arreola? Based on what? 2 fights against a couple of the most woeful opponents of his career? He's 38 years old and his last good performance was in 2013.

Btw I watched a clip of Arreola back as an am. He was only 178 but was probably even slower than he is now. Pretty incredible to me that he managed to win the National Golden Gloves looking that bad.

Did you expect him to start off with Kownacki? Let’s see what happens this weekend. It will be fun while it lasts.
