Context, Shigeoka went 56-1 as an an amateur, is signed to the Watanabe gym and is seen as one of Japan's top prospects. Aged 19 the hope is that he he can be the next big thing from the gym (best known for Uchiyama, Kono, Taguchi and Kyoguchi). Just over 10 months after his debut, and in just his 4th fight, he takes on Filipino Clyde Azarcon for the WBO Asia Pacific Minimumweight title. Azarcon has more pro experience and is the much taller man, though this is his first fight outside of the Philippines....

He physically reminds me of young Pacquio. with some big ass calves and southpaw stance. Will keep an eye open, not a lot of depth at this division so he could be fighting for a title very soon

Impressive body puncher. They are so small though, like midget boxing.

As long as the midgets can still KO each other it's all good

Just been confirmed this morning that his brother, the 1 in Ginjiro's 56-1 amateur record, is turning professional too. Yudai was a standout amateur himself and at 22 is a touch more mature than the already frightening Ginjiro

I feel like in Japan he'd be forced/pressured into losing to his older brother even if he couldve beaten him

Their dad refused to let them fight and threw in the towel for Ginjiro at the opening bell. So Ginjiro's only loss has a HUGE * next to it
