"WBO responds to PBC's unofficial ban"

WBO president Paco Valcarcel on PBC's unannounced policy of not recognizing the WBO as a major sanctioning body: "If this is truly their position, PBC's statements regarding the WBO confirm what the press and boxing fans already suspected: it is a misguided attempt to avoid the possible unification bout between WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford and [IBF champion] Errol Spence Jr.

Response from @rangerrollins: "Your rankings have like a total of 4 PBC fighters in them. Let's not play dumb here Paco..."

Thoughts? :-?

Bob Arum quite clearly owns the WBO. Al cuts his checks to the boys at the WBC. You can't be cutting checks to everybody, so Promoters pick and choose which belt org they wanna work with. This is why we all should stop giving a sh*t about every single title organization. They're meaningless, and for sale to the highest bidder.

I honestly think that Golden boy own the WBC.
The way they bend over and take it from Canelo is all the proof I need

WBC which is based in Mexico City has always seemed to favor Mexican fighters in my opinion.

WBO not ranking Haymon fighters has been going on for many years. I dont know why it started or what the issue is but it has been happening long before Crawford became champ. WBO is based in Puerto Rico. They rank Danny Garcia who is Puerto Rican and that's about it.

WBA is based in Panama and IBF is based in New Jersey. There is no rhyme or reason to some of their rankings and decision making processes. They tend to frustrate everyone in the business.

I think that's more because Canelo is Mexican, and brings a ton of money with him, than anything else.

With Haymon, there's an actual conflict of interest among his staff. Brett Yormark (the guy who runs the Barclays Centre) acts as head of Haymon Sports at the same time as sitting on the WBC Supreme Council.

It's been 13 years since at least one Haymon fighter wasn't involved in a WBC welterweight title fight.

Canelo didn't want anything to do with the WBC until recently. Now they're all buddy buddy again. I just notice cooperation with certain promoters and Championship orgs in that SOME Champions have to defend against their mandatory ASAP, and some Boxers seem to get to pick and choose who they fight from the WBC or IBF or WBA or whatever rankings at will.

Exactly. We know who the best fighter in a division is. When we arent sure then 1 fights 2 for the recognition.

Screw these crooks

I've oftened wondered why fighters pay sanctioning fees especially once they reach the top of the sport. Why do they want a belt?

I guess I dont get it. It's like my work offering me a "best employee" trophy that I have to pay for. Screw that. I know I'm the best employee when you pay me like one.

Canelo loved WBC and was hugging the belt he got from Cotto. Then WBC pushed for the Golovkin fight when Canelo's body wasn't clenbuterolled enough yet, so the rip between him and WBC started.
