How do the rest of the forum rate these fighters? I think all three of them were tremendous fighters who don't get their plaudits. Winstone was a really classy artist to watch in the ring, Famechon an excellent mover with good skills and Legra a fun fighter with a lot of natural and technical ability. Put them in a different (later) era and perhaps one, two or all three could have been dominant long reigning champions.
It's unfortunate Winstone and Famechon's paths never crossed but they all fought good, competitive fights with the great Vicente Saldivar.
Legra vs. Famechon was an excellent fight full of high quality but IMO a bad robbery. I've never been able to see Winstone-Legra I but Miles Templeton is going to send the report from when it happened. The re-match was a massacre with Winstone being on the other side of his prime. I saw Johnny Famechon was featured on "Best I faced" by The Ring and he had a healthy dose of respect for Legra and the many qualities he possessed.
All in all, fun fighters, made a lot of fun fights and aren't discussed as much as they deserve.

Love Legra. Totally underrated. He could have easily been the winner of Jofre and I thought he was clearly robbed against Famechon. Wonderful fighter, very entertaining and a beautiful style.

I feel Jofre won too much after the middle point and Legra let his big moments slip too much to deserve that. That was part of Jofre’s genius. In fights he was hurt he’d come back and punish the other guy so quick in return. Testament to Legra though he was right there with him. Legra was a wonderful fighter.
The Famechon decision was bordering on egregious though. How Legra didn’t win at least 8 rounds I’ll never know.

I have to watch the Famechon v. Legra fight again. In the meantime I dug out an old copy of "Boxing News". Their report had Famechon winning very closely, not by the large margin the referee had it.
The report says that Legra was posing and acting too much, and forgot to land some good punches, while Famechon was just getting on with his job.
