Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?

I know it’s the telegraph but still:

“Anthony Joshua will be heading to the Middle East on December 7 as the deposed heavyweight boxing champion attempts to wrest back three of the four principal world title belts on neutral territory from nemesis Andy Ruiz Jr, The Telegraph can reveal.

It is understood by Telegraph Sport that it will be announced officially today that the Londoner will face the Californian for the IBF, WBA and WBO titles in Riyadh with Saudi Arabian sports entities - with DAZN in the USA and Sky Box Office in the UK airing the championship fight - having put up close to 100 million US dollars for the contest to take place there, according to sources.

There were other options. An offer was tabled by the Dubai authorities while Cardiff's Principality Stadium was also in the running for the much-anticipated rematch after Ruiz stopped Joshua at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 1, in one of the most seismic upsets ever witnessed in the history of heavyweight boxing.

On a dramatic night, having been dropped to the canvas himself by Joshua in the third round, Ruiz then responded by felling the Briton twice that round, before referee Mike Griffin waved the fight off in the seventh round with Joshua having been felled twice more, and in his view, not fit to continue.

Ruiz had taken the fight on five and a half weeks notice, after Joshua's original opponent Jarrell Miller had tested positive for three banned substances in random tests leading up to the June 1 contest.

In the last eleven months, Saudi Arabia has hosted two major bouts involving high profile British boxers.”

Can't see it happening. Neither boxer has any connections to Saudi Arabia and surely the ticket sales from Wembly or Las Vegas or Mexico City would match whatever the Saudis are offering. Probably just a bargaining trick from one side.

I wouldn't mind, at least it looks like a neutral territory if there is such thing..

I hope it's true for Ruiz even if he got 30% that's a complete life changing sum

Well a) as champ hopefully he's getting more than 30%.

And b) yeah, I hope you're right. He might even be able to afford the services of a fitness trainer and nutritionist.

Be tough for a heavyweight champ to move to cruiser.

Ruiz is 6'2" or so. He could stay at heavyweight. He also has a fair bit of muscle on his arms. It's just well, he's a fat f*ck.

In tip top shape I think he'd be a light heavy

I think he has a little bit too much muscle for that, but it really doesn't matter. We're disagreeing whether he's 50 or 80 lbs overweight, and either way, it's madness.

:OhYes: :OhYes: :OhYes: :OhYes: :OhYes: :OhYes:

Some basic physiology education is order

Someone of Ruiz's natural build, if he got down to 175, he'd be drained as weak as fvck

How can you really know his natural build though? He is flabby as hell, at obese levels, how can you really see with all those rolls? I will say he has some skinny arms compared to the rest of his upper body at least. And I'm not sure he's actually any taller than 6'0.

Saudi’s wealth and tax free rules would be a huge motivation to stage a fight there, coupled with the fact that there’s a huge expat community residing in nearby neighbouring Arab countries.

Most of the revenue generated for that event would be international TV license and subscription fees.

I've been 235 in shape and 240 fat, now I'm 170 in shape. It's possible that 100 pounds is a bit too much. We won't ever know, hell never drop his tits.

Good point. I was 205 in great shape and now I'm 190 in awful shape.

I lost 50 pounds, from 203 to 153, and while I was certainly a chubby before I don't think I was as fat as our boy Andy. I would surprised if his 'natural' weight is anything more than 200, and it could be even less. That's all before weight draining too.

People defo IMO overestimate what people's 'natural' weights should be. There are very few guys Ruiz's height who have a natural build so big that they are legit hws
