One shot by Earnie Shavers and that fight is over. Shavers by knockout late, around the 12th round.

Patterson was a far more superior boxer, but Shavers would KO Patterson, if he hit clean. Still Patterson was a huge puncher himself and he could land his bombs earlier. I'd favor Floyd by KO.

I agree. Larry Holmes said in Shaver's biography "Welcome to the Big Time" that when Tyson knocked Holmes out, he felt like he was hit by a Ferrari, but when Shavers knocked Holmes down, he felt like he was hit by a Mack truck. If Shavers caught Patterson's chin with his devastating right hand and it would be over in the same 1st round like Shavers did with Jimmy Ellis and Ken Norton. Patterson would suffer a first round knockout lost twice by Sonny Liston, but worst and he would have no shamed to lose to a great puncher like Earnie Shavers.

Shavers by 3rd round kayo.

Floyd by far the better boxer with the better resume. An all time great fighter.
But this is a a terrible match up for him. Shavers knocks Floyd out in the 1st thru 3rd round.

patterson could really crack himself and was waaay faster and more accurate than shavers. ya patterson was chinny, but shavers was easy to hurt too

either guy could fold the other, but i'll go with floyd

If Patterson can use his greater skills, and speed to get to Shavers chin before Earnie gets to his he can win, but I feel like Floyd is really walking a tightrope here as one clean right hand from Shavers likely spells doom for him.

I'd favor Earnie, more often than not.
