They mentioned it on the BBC 1 coverage, very sad.

I wish him a very speedy and full recovery.

i had a bad feeling as soon as the referee hesitated before stopping it that he'd taken a few punches too many. very dangerous situation, as obviously brookes was ahead when it happened.

i hope he'll be ok.

My impression was the ref was about to stop it but fell over.

From Sheffield Today Newspaper 13/12/04

A BOXER is today recovering in hospital after surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain following his English light-heavyweight title challenge in Sheffield.

Mark Brookes, nicknamed 'The Swinton Warrior', collapsed hours after losing the bout and underwent a four-hour operation at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Today the 25-year-old, who was born in Doncaster and first trained in Denaby, was said to be making excellent progress and a full recovery is expected.

Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Great, obviously, that he seems to be pulling through. The thing I hope the most is that he will be able to settle down okay without boxing once he recovers.

John Keane must think someone has it in for him too, it was only in June that he was getting abuse for stopping Fraudley's fight with Bonin too soon, now this. Mind you, he's dealt with this sort of thing before hasn't he...
