World-rated heavyweight Filip Hrgović (8-0, 6 KOs) is promising excitement as he travels to Hermosillo, Mexico for a defense of his WBC International title against Mario Heredia (16-6-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday, August 24, live on DAZN in the US and Sky Sports in the UK.
“This is what I live for, every day of my life,” says Hrgović. “Boxing makes me feel alive. My preparations have gone perfect and I can’t wait to step in the ring again.
“I had four weeks in Zagreb with my coaches Yousef Hassan and Igor Cordas before going to Miami for a six week training camp with Pedro Diaz. We have done some things differently this time, which you will see on August 24.
“I’m feeling great and ready for my next victory. I hope it is going to finish like my last fight, but we will see. Knockouts are always more attractive for fans but if the fight continues round by round, I’m more than ready for that option as well.”

Godspeed Hrgovic. We need more big, skilled, powerful heavies to challenge the squatters.

Hrgovic is the heir apparent to the Klitschkos.

Needs a quick turn around after this. Heredia will be an easy fight for El Animal.

Probably. However, Heredia just defeated veteran Sam Peter. So Hrgovic better be somewhat prepared.

Hearn better be ready to get him out again soon. Hrgovic needs activity.

Hmmm, a short fat Mexican fighting a towering imposing Olympic medalist on DAZN, there can be only one result
Fil is getting his ass kicked

I'm not on the Hrgovic train at all. Easy to hit, stiff and slow. Pushes with his shots. Of course he's still easily a player because the division has sucky depth though.

Hrgovic logically stopped Heredia early, in the 3rd. He needs a step up fight now.

"Eddie Hearn, Hrgovic’s promoter, said before the fight that 2019 was all about making the boxing world aware of Hrgovic. He hopes to have two more fights for the Croatian lined up, one in October and the other hopefully in December in Saudi Arabia on the Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz card."

Hrgovic seemed very robotic against Heredia.
Upright, no fluidity and no head movement.
I hope he’s not rushed, because there’s a lot of room for improvement.
However, I’d expect Hrgovic to absolutely dominate the likes of Efe Ajagba, because the Croatian is far more fundamentally sound than the Nigerian.

I've always thought there was something off about Hrgovic's left. I'd like to see him start throwing out a solid jab with it. A lot of the time it looks like he just keeps it out there to maintain distance but I'm glad he'll be out twice more this year.

Maybe Chris is going full on journeyman and fighting big stiff Fil one month and no test Tony the next. He'd be a good next opponent for either, hopefully would fight not just to survive.
