There isn't always a correlation between strength and punch power, speed, timing and snap in your punches are often the ones that knock people out.

Vitali's punching power was way less than his strength. Mostly due to poor technique.

Ward was very strong but relatively feather feasted.

..don't know oogie if that's true...he had a very high KO ratio and many of those KOs were in the first couple of rounds..

Most of his stoppages were accumulation of punches. and not against very good fighteres. Rare to see a one shot ko, in fact I don't remember any.

Porter and Dirrell are both gym strong for their weights, but not the biggest punchers.

..his punch was very effective (mostly 1-3 rounds) in the first half of his career (about first 20-25 bouts) and kinda lost its strengths as he grew older...

Do you think his punch matched his strength?

..he was definitely strong but more known for the mental strengths and iron chin..

never though of that much but now that you insist :D ..I believe his punch was directly proportional to his strength..

LOL! I disagree. Vit is a powerful man, but his punch didn't match that strength, primarily because he was an arm puncher. Doesn't mean he didn't hit hard.

..some fans called him indeed an arm puncher later in his career but if you followed him from the start Vitali was taking all his opponents out in the first couple of rounds...I remember watching him at that time and his fans around the ring were laughing and screaming "give him (meaning his opponent) one more round" :D

Smashing tomato cans is hardly a measure. Who hit harder? Vitali or Wlad?

he made them look like tomato cans like some of them were...I thought Wlad hit harder compared to Vitali as he was getting older..
