How far can Buatsi go?

Another quality performance from Buatsi, thought the matchmaking was excellent tonight.

175lb is a division that is heavily dominated by the eastern block fighters - do you guys see Buatsi being a player in 9-12months?

It could be just a bad night but he took way to many right hands , I don't see him competing with the top russian guys

Don’t agree he didn’t look happy with a tough but limited fighter and won with a low blow
have to disagree pal thought that body shot was bang on

He's good but didn't think that was a quality performance at all

I thought it was a decent performance pal that rugged style Ford had was a challenge for the first few rounds but did the job!

Ford lost to a guy that was 6-0 only a few fights back.

He's well schooled, but I blow hot and cold with him. sometimes I think he is going to be fantastic and other times not so much. We need to see more of him.

I liked ford a brave rough tough guy I was just a little surprised how often he Landed the overhand right JB seemed to not know how to get out the way or block it

To be fair, he’s had it pretty much his own way so far. It’s still early to say what he’s really got, apart from a powerful dig of course.

:TU:
That cemented his level for now.
It was a win for Buatsi, but to me it didn't make me more inclined to elevate him above his past opponents because of it.

Odd one, I was not impressed and thought he shipped too many shots and a harder banger, and one who could have landed follow ups could have caused an upset. However we (me for sure) were critical of Yarde not having these sort of fights on the way up so maybe I need to take it easier and allow him to grow through this type of fight

Yarde was scheduled to face Ford and people trashed it

I did not realise that. Shame as it could have been an interesting fight (said with obvious retrospect)

My opinion of Yarde went down after that one.
Ford is a future journeyman on 3 weeks notice and had to travel.
Yarde shipped flush shots, way too many from a pretty basic opponet.
And ended up winning with a nutshot
Any more of a step up and he gets knocked out.

Looked bang average I thought but sometimes prospects coming up can underestimate what’s in front of them and then struggle to flip the switch mid fight. He looked ponderous and a bit short of ideas to me and his feet, whilst never great, looked like the we’re in concrete last night. I like him and think he’s a solid enough guy to be at the top end of the division but sky don’t half blow some up his ass

He's never been the biggest Light Heavy, certainly no monster at the weight like some in that class.

I'v no idea if Super Middle is possible but given the division is dominated by domestic fighters it would be a lucrative and successful move down.

I thought the same thing, lacks real size at 175 but then you cannot see where he would drop 7lb from as looks low bodyfat

buatsi has great hands when he lets them go, but i think work in progress,he would not get inthe top 15 fighting like that the other day

He has looked a bit flat in his last couple bouts, but that may be due to the fact that the opponents were no threat.

I'd like to see him fight a good contender before he steps up to fight a champion.

Joe Smith Jnr, Sullivan Barrera or Jean Pascal could be all be good test's for him at this stage.

Barrera would be the perfect test he can take a shot well and also very skilled maybe Q1 2020

I am a big fan of him and before his last fight I thought he could mix it with the top boys in the near future but his last fight proved to me what your saying, in that he is a work in progress. I think fighting someone ranked around the top 10-15 will see him tested and show us where he's at if he wins well step him up again, if he gets beat back to the drawing board you don't lose you learn

I watched his last fight on ESPN, the commentary team panned Buatsi , they weren't impressed, Andre Ward was particularly hard on him , saying his footwork was poor , staying in range to much , lack of upper body work and took too many punches.

All true from Ward. Buatsis stock plummetted for me. Ford was one of the poorest imports we've seen

It was nice to listen to commentary that wasn't completely biased to the home fighter

Ford's ugly but not that bad. He's faced a mix of prospects and contenders and no one has ever looked good against him really. Before big bad Buat he'd pretty much always won around 5 rounds at least and never gotten the benefit of the doubt on the cards. If he was a homefighter he easily could've gotten a few more decision wins on his record, like the Sirotkin and Hannig fights.

That said, he is a SMW and not a LHW really, and he was there in front of Buatsi all night.
