Jimmy Clark. What went wrong?

During the 1970's Jimmy Clark was one of the USA's best Amatuer Heavyweights who fought and beat some of the best in the World. I have his fight with future Pro Champion Micheal Dokes and Clark looked a good fighter.

However his Pro career was a bit of a flop, he even got KO'd by Lupe Guerra!!!

Does anyone know what went wrong with this amateur star? Any thoughts, info, memories?

Looks like he lacked the durability to make it as a top pro... generally inactive after the Gross defeat which really seems to have spelt the end.
Mind you Gross wasn't that bad a fighter early on in his career...

It seems he should have done more as an amateur, based on what I've heard about him.

THere is something more to this story but damned if I can remember. I'm having one of those senior moments. There is an event that may have played into his fall. But I can't pull it from the neurons. Are you asking because you know and are itching to share? Or because indeed it is an odd outcome?

I doubt I'll be able to dig up anything on this but I'll give it a shot. But I know there is something to be told on this. Maybe I can work on extraction by hypnosis. Cuz I had info in my grey matter on this somehwere.
