I've never seen half-points awarded.
Under what circumstances would a half-point be awarded?

Close rounds
Look at fights like hopkins v taylor 1
Hopkins rounds he dominated were worth as much as rounds that were close amd could go either way. This is a way of making clear rounds count morw

Didn't Argentina use to use a 20 point must system. I seem to remember some crazy scoring.
