How good is Terence Crawford's opposition ?
Terence Crawford
35-0
26 KO's
Burn's, Gamboa and Beltran in 2014.
He ran against Postol in 2016.
2018 he beat Pacquiao conqueror Jeff Horn in 9.
Couple of other names on his record that could be mentioned as solid and challenging.
What do you make of his record ?

Well he’s a 3-weight world champion. Always been at the top of the weights. His opponents looking back may not all seem top or good challenges, but at the time he fought them, they were highly ranked.

He’s beaten everyone put in front of him.

I think he boxed well against Postol. Even dropped him twice.

Gamboa was first.
Gamboa moved up in weight to make that fight right ?

He moved up the fight before. Beat Daryl Perez for the Interim WBA lightweight belt.

Crawford fought the best possible opposition at the Super Lightweights of those times, when he was there. But in his recent weight gradpa Bob feeds the stiffs to him.

For sure, there might be a few exceptions, but generally-speaking, Top Rank/Bob Arum aren’t very good at working with other promoters and TV networks, as per the lack of opponents for the likes of Terence Crawford, Gilberto Ramirez, Tyson Fury and to a lesser degree, Vasiliy Lomachenko (as per the Gervonta Davis situation).

Does anyone remember Manny Pacquiao’s time with Top Rank? How many times did the Filipino needlessly face the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley Jr.? Unless there was mega-money involved, Bob Arum wouldn't allow the "Pac Man" to face any of Al Haymon's guys.

I could be wrong, but the only time Vasiliy Lomachenko crossed the street to face GBP or Matchroom fighters, was due to the purse bid process or at least the impending threat of them (as per the Luke Campbell, Anthony Crolla and Gary Russell Jr. bouts).

And it’s kind of hard to feel sympathy for Terence Crawford’s plight, since the American top-three pound-for-pounder decided to renew his lucrative contract with Top Rank less than a year ago, knowing full-well that his decision would either completely scupper or minimise his chances to face-off against most of his fellow big-name welterweight peers.

Arum works well with GBP and Matchroom and Queensberry.. Mostly when it's winnable fights for him to be honest..

But you're right. a big risk will only come with a big reward.

Top Rank definitely works well with Queensberry Promotions, since Fṙḁṅk Wḁṙṙḛn and Bob Arum have a deal in place to provide boxing content for ESPN.

Top Rank is definitely reluctant to work with Eddie Hearn, partly due to Wḁṙṙḛn' rivalry with Matchroom, but also because ESPN & DAZN are rival networks, coupled with Bob's constant criticism of the cocky British promoter.

And this is just one of many examples of Bob's Harsh words (with the article edited to for brevity purposes):

"Bob Arum: The Lomachenko-Crolla Fight Got Shoved Up Our Ass"

“The fight got shoved up our ass, with the mandatory, and thanks to our friend, Eddie Hearn, who thought he’d go to purse bid and have Lomachenko fight at least one time on DAZN,” Arum told BS.com...

The only way Lomachenko could’ve avoided the Crolla fight would’ve been to give up the WBA lightweight title he won by knocking out Jorge Linares...

“You’ve gotta understand that my guy Lomachenko is an eastern European,” Arum said. “They love to pile up titles, they love to unify and they don’t like to give up belts. There was no chance I could convince him to walk away.”

At the end of the day, we both agree, Top Rank only agrees to plays nice with others when there's mega-money involved, because otherwise, they're not interested. And this is the main reason for Terence Crawford's underwhelming resume.

Crawford is one of the best and has fought great opposition, his last two though have been weakish.

Pacman is unbelieveable when it comes to who he fights. he might not always win but every one of his last 20 fights except Jeff Horn, were real top 10 fighters...no other has fought opposition like that.

Pac beat Horn too. The judges beat Pac, Horn didn't.

Crawford has fought the #2 in his division at least twice. Can't ask for much more, he's fucked now unless he can land prograis after the wbss or Ramirez moves up.

I think he has beaten a lot of solid opponents, but clearly lacking in that A level opponent to really showcase his great talent.

Yes. He definitely isn't #1
He has delt with who has been put in front of him really well. It's just that Loma has as well, and made guys quit.

Crawford has done a better job on his opponents than Loma has.

I don't even hold the loss against Loma, because it's simply so unreal to fight a guy like Salido in your second pro fight, but Linares and Campbell I thought were also more competitive with him than any have been with Craw. Only Gamboa really gave Crawford a fight and that was for like 2.5 rounds, then he started making out with the canvas.

He beat everyone he was expected to beat.
Most of his career defining wins are in the fan fantasy fight realm and include wins over Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, DeLa Jolla, and Trinidad.

I feel like Bud is underpromoted and can't figure out why he re-upped with Top Rank.
