Press Release

Katie Taylor will bid to become a two-weight World Champion when she meets Christina Linardatou for the WBO Super-Lightweight World title at Manchester Arena on Saturday November 2, shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

On the same bill, Manchester favourite Anthony Crolla bids farewell at the venue he was crowned World Champion, rising Light-Heavyweight star Joshua Buatsi steps up again to take on another former World title challenger in Blake Caparello, Felix Cash defends his Commonwealth Middleweight title against English Champion Jack Cullen and Gamal Yafai and Qais Ashfaq continue their march towards titles.

Croydon’s Buatsi (12-0, 10 KOs) fights in Manchester for the first time as a professional after extending his explosive KO streak to seven fights as he stopped Canada’s Ford in seven rounds at The O2 in London on the Lomachenko vs. Campbell card.

Next up on his World title quest is Australia’s Caparello (30-3-1, 13 KOs), a former opponent of WBO Light-Heavyweight World Champion Sergey Kovalev and former IBF Super-Middleweight ruler Andre Dirrell, who arrives on these shores coming off four wins.

His KO against Ryan Ford came with a low blow. Also another punch to the back of Ford’s head. He was going to get an UD anyway.

Another KO victory for Buatsi.

Even the Quinlan stoppage was a question mark.

I'm going with Blake.
Experience, and he knows how to use his southpaw stance. Buatsi hasn't faced a reasonable southpaw as a pro yet. Blake also has a reasonable chin, it took a prime Kov a couple of premium shots to put him to bed, so I think he can weather the intital storm from Buatsi, and that's if he can land clean on Blake. The Aussie is tough, way tougher than who Buatsi has faced so far. I actually thought last time out, that Ryan Ford was starting to make inroads against Buatsi until he had his nuts crushed. And Blake Caperello is a level above Ford.

Apparently Hearn confirmed Crolla will go on last. However at the Presser, KT was going on about how she is honoured to headline.

Buatsi (12-0, 10 KOs) 26-year-old issued a statement via his Twitter account to inform everyone of the news.

“I was advised to wait until a replacement fight was lined up but unfortunately due to illness and after speaking with doctors, I have had to pull out of my fight against Blake Caparello on November 2nd at the Manchester Arena.

“I am so disappointed to not be able to fight in front of the Manchester fans as it was a challenge I was realising. I just haven’t been able to train at the intensity required to fight. I plan to rest up and get back in the gym as soon as possible. More news coming soon.”

Poor quality fare now this card, pity as last weekend had two good domestic level contests then two weeks later it’s a big nose dive
