On Saturday evening there was big - in quantity - show in Shkoder, Albania. In one of the prelims, featherweight Ardit Murja (4-1 going into the fight) took on Bulgarian Isus Velichkov (0-5).

The fight started with the two feeling each other but soon it´s evident that Velichkov´s legs were beginning to desert him. Murja then scores with a decent left jab and Velichkov at first don´t seem to react but then stumbles backwards and goes down in his corner and is fully out cold. Medical staff rushed in, but he could not be revived. He was 21-years old.

In this case it doesn´t appear that the cause of death was a punch to the head in the actual fight and Velichkov had gone the distance in his previous five professional fights and while he had lost all five it didn't t appear that he was overmatched in any of them.

Still it happened and a young man is dead in a tragedy for all involved.

I'm wondering what the cause of death was. Very tragic, of course very sad. So young.

I've read it wasn't Velichkov who died. Apparently, his cousin Boris, with no previous record, was boxing under his name, licence, and medical records. Isus is, apparently, very much alive.

Just saw that. Doesn't sound like the sanctioning body or promoters did their proper diligence. Rut Roh!

What type of brain problem must that guy have had to be killed by that?

Maybe it was his heart. Very strange. Disturbing.

It looks weird indeed... unfortunately, due to the fight's location and significance, we aren't going to hear too much of details about this incident, i guess.

The official report is heart failure. Terrible.

It appears that the cause of death of Borislav Velichkov, on Saturday evening in the ring in Shkoder, Albania, was heart failure.

And apparently this was a pre-existing condition so boxing appears to be on the hook in a big way, as far as the blame to this terrible and tragic accident.

Isus Velichkov was never in the ring, all of ''his'' 5 previous losses were in fact loses of Boris Stanchov. He just fought under his cousin's name, licence etc. Shocking.
