Zhilei Zhang and JunLong Zhang

What ever happened to these two Chinese prospects?

About 2 years ago they were both borderline top 15, ranked in a few orgs, doing the usual easy-win-over-journeymen thing like many prospects, about to the point where decent step-up fights would be expected next.

Since then...crickets. Zhilei hasn't fought in almost a year, and it's approaching 2 years for Jun Long.

Both are undefeated but they're not getting any younger (36 and 38), what happened to them? Any news about either one?

They are shaping-up to have the same career path as JD Chapman.

Last I heard of Zhi (the better of them) is when he pulled out of the Ustinov fight in Monaco. Hunter then took it and whooped Usti's big flabby butt

Junlong Zhang, at 38 and inactive since 2017, is scheduled to return in February on what looks like a local card in Texas?!

Zhang fought recently in Monaco.

Zhang fought and beat former CW champion Ramirez in 2017.

That fight was a joke if not a fix. Zhang had a 7 1/2 inch reach advantage, 4 inch height advantage and a substantial weight advantage over a small cruiserweight who didn't look like he had trained a minute in the six months since losing a cruiserweight title fight. Can't see Zhang ever getting into the ring with even a half-decent heavyweight

Zhang doesn't belong in the same sentence as Zhang. Zhang was an Olympic and Worlds medalist and is an actual boxer, albeit only fringe-contender material at most, whereas Zhang is a fat fixed fight freakshow.

Why the match between Junlong Zhang and Victor Emilio Ramirez has been deleted by Boxrec?

Agreed. Relieved that Zhilei fought in November. Don't really care if JunLong never fights again, thought he has a tba scheduled for the 24th...what are the odds that goes off?

Could you feed back what you find out in the other thread?

I thought Junlong retired but I guess he's set to make his epic bumcrushing return in 4 days? With no opponent scheduled yet? Either way he's already 38 so his career is almost certainly going nowhere.

Zhilei just fought Rudenko so maybe they're finally gonna try to step him up and push him to some sort of title opportunity?

It was an exhibition on the contract not a professional fight.

Junlong Zhang apparently has a scheduled fight against #292 Cruiserweight Erdogan Kadrija on an upcoming Armand Teodorescu card in Ontario this weekend.

What happened to Junlongs win over that former Cruiserweight champion? I think he was South American.

that was victor ramirez, the fight definitely happened and there was/is footage of it, but maybe boxrec found something shady. junlong's whole career is shady

I believe that it was found out to be an exhibition fight which was being billed as a professional fight (not sure how they worked that out).

The fight was for WBA Oceania heavy title. She couldn't have been exhibition.
Another fight was also missed - with Osborne Machimana (second fight with him) on 12 nov. 2018.

Such fights happen often. That doesn't make them exhibition. Has anyone seen this contract? I doubt.

Neither are even from Oceania. I don’t get why these belts be at stake half the time.

It's a case of 2 Zhangs don't make a right.
