Steve 'Bennie' Connolly - Rebel without a cause?

Why does a Boxing News Journalist use a false name. Wouldn't he get more respect if he said who he was? Does he use this 'Bennie' Handle so he can vent his little frustrations without the risk of being sued?
Wouldn't this forum be better if everyone used their proper names.
Perhaps Bennie might come across as less vindictive.

maybe if everyone just chille dout a little and everytime someone voiced and opinion there wasnt a threat of litigation then everyone might just get along a bit better?

It hasn't exactly done me any favours using my real name, despite the fact that the comments attributed to me were made by other people, I have ended up being tarred with an 'anti sports network' brush.
Of course all of the negative comments aimed at other promoters, or positive comments with regard to SN fighters, were completely ignored, whilst anything negative, in any thread in which I appeard, was wrongly attributed to me......I can personally not reccomend using your real name, more grief than it's worth.
I would be happy for everyone to use real names, yourself included, but nobody is really under any obligation to do so, and it's perfectly understandable why they don't.
Of course I wouldn't condone making defamatory comments about anyone, and don't do so myself, but seeing as there are only about 50-100 people who come on this forum regularly, you have to say, who really gives a shit anyway.
If someone comes on here and says, for instance, 'Who wants to read James McDonnell's work, he writes rubbish anyway' I don't really give a damn seeing as there are very few people who read this forum anyway.
I think in the scheme of things this forum is relatively insignificant, as are most boxing forums, which are populated by people who are in work-avoidance mode, who are obsessed to posting their views about boxing to the point of mental illness.....myself included.

Show and tell is it? Well take a step forward Mr Andy Ayling.....
Saw you looking a little nervous ringside at the Hatton fight Sat night. Imagine, the boss leaves you in charge and Hatton gets himself sparked!
Good job he was in with a non puncher as per usual. Otherwise, P45 Monday morning...
So what's the odds on Tszyu in March Andy?

Oh, the bad memories that your post has resurrected.
For a time, all the kids at my school would taunt me with that horrible phrase, "Rubber Johnny". How I cried.
Looking back, I still find it a little strange. Why did they do it? My name's Paul.

I dont understand why you post on here, most people post on here to veiw there opinions on boxing, you seem to say things to stir the shit then warrens sends a legal letter to try to shut the forum down. I would rather people used there real names, or there ip addresses made available so everyone can see whos saying what, i dont give a fornicate what people think, and im not anti SN or any other promoter but i have to say the standard off opposition for SN's key fighters has been IMO quite low this year compared to a few years ago, weather thats because of loosing phondu i dont know.

Thing is, I never did understand why SN don’t use forums such as this and the letters pages of publications and even post-fight interviews, to properly address the fears and concerns of boxing fans rather than act like paranoid, over-defensive tossers.
Come out and say “This is why Hatton only participates in matches weighted at least 75/25 in his favour” instead of just attempting to censor people who want to criticise it. Engage some of us in a debate, hell you might even make us understand your point of view. Doubt it but you never know and at least you would be more respected.
But the way SN seems to conduct themselves in relation to these forums is so beautifully mirrored by FW when asked a question even remotely not to his liking in a post-fight interview that you can’t blame boxing fans for voicing these opinions. If you can’t understand this then you don’t understand a major part of the sport or your target audience and should just concentrate on a UK WWF franchise.
SN should really think over their PR…..

The thing i object to is one bit of criticism and the legal eagles are in like a shot, i think certain people should sometimes remember that we are not a bunch of internet nerds and a lot of posters on this forum are the paying public. We buy the PPV's, we attend the shows and we pay the SKY subs... so we are entitled to question what we are paying for, correct? Don't bite the hand that feeds, remember without the paying public it all folds

So stop treating us with such arrogance and contempt
