The Eye of the Tiger Management team confirmed Tuesday morning that David Lemieux will headline a gala presented at the Bell Center on December 7, according to RDS.

In the main event of the evening, Lemieux (40-4, 34 KOs) will make a comeback in Quebec for the first time since his clash with Karim Achour in May 2018 and this time, in his first at 168-pounds. For the occasion, he will face the Ukrainian Max Bursak (34-5-2, 15 KO) - who never lost by knockout.

"I am very excited to come back to fight at home, in front of my loved ones and my fans. I feel at the peak of my fitness and I plan to give everything in order to offer a memorable evening to boxing fans," Lemieux said.

Arslanbek Makhmudov and Simon Kean will also be in action on the card.

Makhmudov (9-0, 9 KOs) will defend his NABF heavyweight title against the so-called "The Nigerian Nightmare" in reference to his reputation as a slugger, Samuel Peter (38-8, 31 KO). The former Nigerian-born world champion has rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in heavyweights including Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko as well as Hughie Fury.

Kean (17-1, 16 KOs) will get an important test as he faces former WBO heavyweight champion Sergie "White Wolf" Liakhovich (27-7, 17 KOs) .

A representative of Belarus at the 1996 Olympics, bronze medalist at the 1997 world championships, Liakhovich had an impressive amateur career in which he had a record of 145 wins and only 15 defeats. He continued his progression in the pros by measuring himself to the elite of the division including Andy Ruiz Jr., Deontay Wilder, Bryant Jennings or Shannon Briggs.

Should be fun. Bursak has only cumulative pop at this level so shouldn't be a problem for Lemieux.

Yeah that is usually when the pressure is on him to perform and deliver... I think he puts on a beating vs Bursak who is not as hungry as before.

Was hoping for better for the Mak Attack (Peter is shot to shite) but at least he's fighting again

Not me, he's got good power but terrible skills. Unlikely to ko anyone near a contender.

Fight week

Lemieux won a razor-close ten round split decision over Max Bursak (35-6-2, 16 KOs).

The fight started with a bang as Bursak dropped Lemieux. Lemieux would rock Bursak in the third. But Burask would repeat his success by dropping Lemieux in the fifth, and then the Canadian puncher returned the favor when he dropped Bursak in round six. Both boxers had their moments as the contest played out.

The scores saw Lemieux get the nod with scores of 94-93, 94-93, and the third judge had Bursak ahead 94-93 on his card.

After the figtht, I heard promoter saying that maybe Lemieux could make 160lbs again...
Which means he has no future at 168lbs.

This was a slug fest, very entertaining.
I had it 94-93 Bursak, no complaints about the decision, close fight, a narrow decision for either fighter is fine.
Judges did a great job.
Not so sure about the ref, Bursak was allowed waaayyyy too many rabbit punches, warned repeatedly, never penalized. Ref also missed a second knockdown in the first round. Lem had already been down once and a second KD should have been called when he was held up by the ropes.
