Hi!
A few years ago I posted here to see if anyone had stories or photos of my dad Peter Lund who was a mornington boxer in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
He owned a boxing gym in Mornington and unfortunately passed away when I was little.
The last time I posted in this forum I came across some really amazing stories and was wondering if anyone else had photos, stories, or anything you know about my dad you could share with me.
Anything would be really appreciated!
Thank you
Emma Lund

Dear Emma,
It has been a number of years since you posted a request for information on your father the boxer Peter Lund. I did not know your father personally but I do recall him as being a well known local champion boxer and popular identity in the Mordialloc, Mentone and Parkdale areas in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Peter was a few years older than I was but I remember him when as a young boy I used to attend the Mordialloc Youth Centre in Warren Road, Mordialloc. I remember him sparring in the boxing ring at the youth centre. I recall that he was a tall and athletic boxer who was noted for his speed: a bit like Mohammad Ali: the same sort of style. I remember seeing a picture in the newspapers of him sitting in his corner between rounds when he won the Victorian title: I recall thinking at the time that he appeared to be trying his very hardest to win. I also recall seeing pictures of him in the newspaper when he married your mum. I remember being saddened when I learned of his passing in the newspaper. You should contact the old Standard Newspapers which in the 1960’s and 1970’s published the Mordialloc Chelsea News weekly newspaper in those days because these pictures appeared in this newspaper. They may be able to help you with further information and pictures of your father. The last time that I saw your father in person was in the mid to late 1960’s when I saw him walk up Evan Street, Parkdale and turn into Taylor Street, Parkdale. I hope that this information can be of assistance to you.
