Jack Daniels, active 1906-1922

Does anyone know anything about Jack Daniels, who boxed competitively from 1906 to 1922? Also, I am looking for an Alfred Burley for around that same time, but I don't know what name he boxed under. Any ideas will help.

There has never been a professional boxer in the UK with the name Alf Burley. I suspect that, if he was a pro, then he boxed under a different name.
Regarding Daniels, I have a 163 bout record for him between 1906 and 1924 and at least four photographs of him

Dear Miles and Controversial - thanks for this info. Miles I will PM you - I am keen to learn more. I am writing a biography on him so any info will help. He was a brit in the army and his close friend was Alfred Burley. As they were good mates I am only guessing that Alf boxed too but have no idea what name he boxed under, if any. Ps - I am a she (!)

No worries Lee, sorry for referring to you as a 'he' lol. I assume Jack had an interesting life to be writing a book on him?

Yes, he did have a very interesting life. He came from a very poor family, fled wars and persecution, was a bit of a ratbag, became a famous war hero winning many medals and then an incredible good Samaritan. There's a lot of story to tell.

He did fight a Freddie Welsh. His number is 165500

Wonder if he ever fought anyone named Jim Beam...
