Sorry amigo. Beg to differ!! I'm a huge fan of both guys and Vergil is probably THE most exciting fighter to watch these days. Ortiz is only 21 with 14 bouts and not ready for Bud's incredible boxing skills & ring generalship. Give Verg a couple years and he will be top 5 P4P imo.

Good post.
Vergil is young. But I think it would be good not to go in there with a game plan and try to outskill crawford. Ortiz should focus where he has advantages and thats power and just go into the ring knock out crawford.
Crawford always had the advantage of being taller and stronger. He was taller and stronger than gamboa and he was stronger than khan or benavidez.
This time he would be in the ring with someone taller bigger and who possesses more punching power.

He was taller than gamboa.
He was shorter than bena and same height of khan. But he was physicly stronger than those guys. He has more punching power than those guys. You get my point.
Spence, thurman, ortiz, these guys have punching power over him, they physicly stronger than him. They all 3 would f;&.!k him up.
And it would good for boxing, cause we dont need boring styles like crawfords in boxing!

I'm not saying Vergil should try to "outskill" Crawford!! He & his trainer know better than that.
What I
am saying is that Crawford's boxing skills make it VERY difficult for Vergil to land solidly, let alone knock him out. Bud is a slick-boxing, defensively skilled fighter who would outbox the Vergil Ortiz of today no matter WHAT game plan Vergil has. He just hasnt had enough experience with fighters close to Crawford's caliber to stand a serious chance of beating Terence by KO, decision or ANY way. The best fighters Vergil has beaten are not even in the
same galaxy as Terence Crawford.
Give him time. In a couple years, when Vergil is 23 & Crawford is 34 we can revisit the issue. Assuming Ortiz continues to steadily improve the caliber of his opposition, Vergil will have a LEGIT chance to beat Crawford by then.

There are levels in boxing.
How a guy performs against one level of competition does not inform in any way on how he will perform against a completely different level of opponent, much as we would like to believe it does when we attach ourselves to an exciting prospect.
I assume you are well aware of this and are just being provocative which is cool, so let's just see how Ortiz develops, maybe he will prove to be a truly great fighter before it's all said and done.

Not certain if you put this up in jest or not, but I don't think any WW is going to "wreck" Crawford anytime soon. Crawford didn't get where he is -the best in the division- just boxing balloons....

Do you remember forrest against mayorga?
Not comparing crawford with forrest, but at that time forrest was p4p elite. He beat prime mosley, who than was p4p king, maybe 2, there was still roy jones jr. But prime forrest beat mosley and became p4p top 3. He was tall, a puncher and good technique. Mayorga on the other hand had poor technique, he wad techniquly inferior to forrest. Forrest had better defence.
But what mayorga had was chin, thoughness, stamina, punching power and the atitude "i am gonne hurt you"
Went inside the ring and crushed him. Thats exactly what you need to do. Maidana and castillo arent no atg top 50, they arent no techniqule genuises, but they got inside with the greatest defensive boxer ever and landed big shots, why because they were tough and aggressive and believed in themselves.
Ortiz tkos crawford

#1 in the division. Also #1 @light welterweight.
Taylor is at the top @lw in a very weak division, ortiz would take 9 rds to make his team throw the towel.
He is a rare talent. Very strong. You can call him weight bully, but who isnt out of the top p4p boxer? Canelo, GGG, spence mostly were bigger than their opponents. Thats why loma or pac are so special, they were mostly smaller in height and weight than their opponents.
