HBO Sports announced earlier this week that the Vitali Klitschko-Danny Williams pay-per-view event in Vegas generated only 120,000 hits (buys).
"We're disappointed," admitted HBO's Ross Greenburg.
The venue itself (a good venue, with 50 dollar seats almost as good as ringside), was at best 60 per cent full.

it was on the back of two other big PPV (morales v Barrera and something else) ... so a third $50 in a month was probably bad for US PPV....

They would have made good money from european TV rights though

On 11/13 we had the Madison Square Garden show on ppv, and then on 11/27 Barrerra/Morales. Quite surprised they had this many ppv's right after one another. It doesn't help them either that they are going to replay the Williams fight this Saturday on HBO. I personally wasn't that interested in the undercard to shell out $50 again.

Two non USA fighters fighting for the Heavyweight Title may also have been a factor I imagine.
