It’s normal to see a boxer retire at 37 isn’t it?
Unless you’re Adams..

Anyone reckon her career would have been different if say she was signed to Matchroom?

No. She peaked in 2012. Plus, Eddie doesn’t promote in Leeds. That could change with Hope Price and Ashfaq in the future.

She a sensible lass that one! Some of her fellow pros could do with following her lead.

Yeah there’s the rule isn’t it. You can only box in a place that’s within 200 yards of your front door.

Why doesn’t he promote there?

She announced her retirement in an open letter to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Many years ago, the paper wrote a story about a young girl wanting to embark on a boxing career,” she wrote. “That girl wanted to make Leeds, Yorkshire and the people of Great Britain proud and pave the way for a new generation of female fighters.
“You’ve championed me from the very start of my career and so I wanted you to be the first to know I’ve made the very difficult decision to step down from the ring.
“I’m immensely honoured to have represented our country – to win double Olympic gold medals and then the WBO championship belt is a dream come true… But it’s not without taking its toll on my body, and aside from the expected aches and pains - I’ve been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss.
“Whilst I am proud of my achievements, the unwavering belief from everyone in my corner, is something I will appreciate for the rest of my life.
“Hanging up my gloves was always going to hard, but I have never felt luckier, And I’m so immensely proud of how far the sport has come."

Good luck to her. The pro career was just really a footnote, her work was done as an amateur. I'm sure with her profile she'll be able to move on to plenty of other things.

100%. Signing with FW is not good for a boxer's exposure. As an example, Chisora has thrived on Hearn cards win or lose.

Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Nicola Adams, 37-years-old, has no regrets about making her decision to retire from the sport.
Adams revealed that she sustained a serious eye injury in her last pro bout, and the injury heavily influenced her decision to walk away from the ring.
Women's boxing is starting to gain a lot of momentum, with purse figures gradually rising and far more televised coverage being offered.
But Adams was never planning to have a long, drawn out career in the sport.
"It was something I was readying for at the time because I'd already been talking about what I was going to do next, but didn't expect it to happen so quickly," Adams told
The Telegraph.
"But I'm very adaptable and I took a long time thinking about whether I would do. Ultimately though I was happy because I'd accomplished everything in boxing that I could."
With her in-ring career coming to an end, Adams is now looking ahead to other avenues in the next chapter of her life.
"At the moment I've been taking time out to spend time with the family and now I'm going to be doing more of the TV stuff, moving forward...which is exciting," Adams said.
