Jack Catterall

Anyone have any idea what's happening with him? He seemed to be pretty highly ranked and on the verge of a title shot a while back. He's fought once against a nobody since that debacle against Davies and hasn't got anything lined up.

Last I heard he was on some MTK card that's coming up in the Middle East - against a German whose name escapes me.

He's certainly being well prepared for a mandatory shot by keeping active, against quality opposition [inserts sarcasm emoji].

Yeah, I think he is treading water, waiting for his mandatory that he is ill prepared for.
He needs to step it up beforehand.
Promising guy, just not ready.
Needs a Baranchyk, Zepada or Cano on his resume first,.or else he is in over his head

Baranchyk would be good. Someone that's gonna be in his face and force the fight.

I was impressed with Catterall when he's was coming through and thought he boxed within himself and could go through the gears if needed. After seeing his last few fights though i don't think he has got more gears I just don't think he is that good. Baranchyk would break him up

True. He is young enough to easily come back.
You have to admit Mags, that one look at his current resume tells you he is ill prepared for either Taylor or Ramirez.

I really like his style, and I think he has potential. It's just the gap in his preparation regarding a title shot. The 4 belts are held between two proven champions. There is no easy path. And stepping up to that level without one of the three guys I listed on the way, is a sure fire splattering for poor Jack :verysad:

As mentioned jack fights in two weeks in Dubai , it has been a frustrating year as mandatory for Hooker then Ramirez who has two mandatories to face , Jack was hopeful he would be first but it looks like he will make his other mandatory first .
I was with Jack at the Taylor v Prograis fight and I can tell u for certain he would relish a fight with Josh and certainly doesn’t see anything of concern .
Whilst too much is often made of gym stories Jack has sparred both Mayweather and Canello on several ocassions and certainly held his own so isn’t going to be in awe of faced with Josh who is a great fighter in the opposite corner .
Unfortunately in boxing the most talented don’t always get the opportunity, Jacks become part of the ‘ who needs him club ‘ as not many of the elite level fighters are wanting to fight him but given the opportunity I can say with certainty Jack will be champion , we have certainly not seen the best of him yet
