So what views or opinions did you hold at one point but have since changed your mind about? Maybe you thought one fighter was great but not so much anymore, or a fighter you didn't really rate you now think is great.

I used to underrate SRL. I was a Hearns fan, so it clouded my judgement. Beating Benitez, Hearns, Duran and Hagler is amazing.

Journeymen - when I was a lad I used to think they were no good. Then I started going to fights and saw they were actually quite handy.

Willie pep and Jimmy Wilde are two guys I overrated for a long time. Obviously great, but their resumes don't match their standard placements all time. I think I had pep top 5 once upon a time and he's more appropriate around 25. Wilde I used to have around 25 and he's more suited for 80 or 90.

Wilde is tough to rate. There simply isn't a lot of opponents to create a baseline. And we don't have film
Pep's victims list is not as impressive as you would think. However, at least there is footage available of him and you can tell he was great.

There have been many guys who I underrated through the years, simply because I didn't know much about them. I think that is one great thing about Boxrec. People bring up guys that you hardly ever have heard about. You look into them, and sometimes they were really good.
The database is awesome, and Youtube has helped a lot as well.

Yes I was a bit like that, some decent guys out there with rubbish looking records which is misleading.

I did not see the Klitschko brothers going so far when they were coming through...….

…….yes they were huge men and well-conditioned but they seemed to be very methodical and a bit stiff and European. Also wondered whether two well-educated guys would have the hunger/nastiness to cope with the top American HWs.

Sort of came to the early view that they'd be around for years on the Euro-scene (keep the blue belt in Germany) and get a few cracks at the title and not disgrace themselves...….but were also lacking something.

Greatest heavyweight of all time - Ali or Louis. Still go back and forth even now.

Mike Weaver got a bum rap while WBA heavyweight champion. Could have been a great one given the chance.

I underrated Ali for years, I think I took a dislike to him when I was younger for one reason or another and it clouded my judgement, obviously his resume speaks for itself and for me these days is the no1 heavy.

I disliked Larry Holmes and my countryman Macho Camacho Sr. when I first became a boxing fan and I thought Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. looked like a real nice guy. Having met (Camacho Sr. and Chavez Sr.) or contacted (Holmes) them, I can now tell you how wrong I was with each of them!!

Early on, Richard Steele seemed like a really good referee. Boy did that change.
